What I need more than anything else
A way to save a game without quitting it. Would save a lot of frustration. Thank you.

When in game, click the Options menu - bottom choice - "Save Game and Leave".
You can come back and continue later. This option has been there for a few versions I believe. |

Um, "without quitting it" was right there in the original message...and I wish this was an option as well.

File | Save Game. I use this regularly and doesn't require you to quit.

Do you mean mid-game?

Ok, I think I get it. The ability to save a game in progress without exiting, say after the 3rd for example, then continue to finish the game, but also have the ability to go back and load the game up from that 3rd inning save to continue from there again.
At least I think that's what he's asking ![]() |

I apologize
I am sorry for starting this thread. I just have had OOTP24 crash on me more than any other version. It has gone from the most stable game on my computer to the least stable. I need them to stabilize this version before ever thinking about working on OOTP25.

Hmm, I hadn't really considered it, but I think 24 has crashed on me more than most recent versions too. I thought it must be an issue with my computer that's been having issues lately, but maybe not.
What's surprised me was each time it's crashed I thought my league would soon become corrupted like they have at times in the past, but so far I've just lost some innings or games played. So far so good, so hurray for that. If people aren't reporting their crashes, they probably should be (I haven't). EDIT: And I too would like an in-game save and stay feature.

Same here, have been playing since 6.5 and have had more crashes with this version than all of the others combined. Really tough on the well-played game that crashes in the 8th or 9th inning. I do resort on occasion to the mid-game save.

I have not played that many saved games with OOTP 24, but I've played it on multiple PCs of varying ages and operating systems, and I don't think I've had it crash on its own. But I recently installed it on a new laptop, and I had a strange Windows 11 crash last night.
I tried to use the Task Manager to force close OOTP 24 while a game was active, because I had forgotten to make a couple of crucial lineup adjustments before advancing to the game screen. But, when I clicked the option to bring up the Task Manager in Windows 11 while the live game was running, the whole system freaked out and caused the laptop to reboot itself. I've never seen that happen with any app before, including with OOTP. But when I tried to replicate it a couple of times, it didn't happen again. Maybe this was just a weird fluke, but it's unfortunate that other people are having so many crashes. Inevitably, I suspect that it gets harder and harder to ensure stability across different systems and configurations, especially with new features and fixes all the time, plus old vs. newer code. But, if this is a significant trend, hopefully it can be reversed. Hopefully everyone has been reporting these crashes in the bugs forum, along with any error codes or logs they can retrieve. |

I have played numerous games in various sims in OOTP 24 on Mac and my PC, with nary a crash. I experienced occasional crashes in 23, 22, 21. So, based solely on my experience, I would deem 24 to be the most stable version I have used. I suppose this is a classic YMMV situation. Maybe due to how I play (game by game on one-pitch mode; rarely running through weeks or months or seasons at a time)? My approach rarely clogs the CPU with a vast amount of data accumulating. I’m just plodding along, a few games a day.
