Post Trade Deadline Live Start: ETA?
When is the live start expected to be updated with all the transactions that took place yesterday at the deadline?
Also curious to hear from others what teams interest you now as rebuild candidates. Special thanks to the developers for all you do 🙏🏻 |

I think the Cardinals are interesting because there are a couple of valid scenarios. Either way, changes are appropriate. They are trending toward 90 losses, so a front office / manager purge on August 1 would not be out of the question. Of course, the Cardinals will not do it, but I can replace Mo and Ollie with myself.
1. The Cardinal Way Don't rebuild... reload. Goldschmidt is signed for 2024. A 2-3 year extension (to sync his contract term with Arenado's) is very possible and affordable in the game. You will have $40-45 million to spend on 2024 pitching either by free agency or trade. There will be a top pitcher, such as Urias or E-Rod, that accepts the QO and is immediately placed on the trade block. Any decent prospect will land that guy because the AI wants out of the contract. That still leaves $20-25 million for another good starter and perhaps a closer in trades, and you have plenty of top-200 prospects to get that done. There will be trade partners among the teams trying to clear salary to bid on Ohtani, or you could go for Ohtani yourself when he falls to your price range (and he will). Improved pitching and the current position players could win the NL Central or at least contend for a wild card spot in 2024. 2. The Astros Way No, I didn't mean cheat. Let's keep it serious. I mean tear the sucker down to the rafters. Trade Goldschmidt and Arenado. The Yankees and Dodgers would be good targets because they have young starting pitchers in the Clarke Schmidt, Gavin Stone, Ryan Pepiot class that can step into the 2024 rotation along with Liberatore and possibly Graceffo. The game considers Mikolas to be an overpaid veteran, thus a very low trade value, so you might as well use him to fill a rotation spot and hope for that CEI. Your infield is 1B Donovan, 2B Edman, SS Winn, and 3B Gorman. Retain some of the contract and trade Contreras to clear the catcher spot for Herrera. Your outfield/DH is covered with O'Neill, Nootbar, Carlson, Burleson, and Walker. That team probably won't make the playoffs but it should easily cover your "don't suck completely" goal and might finish .500 or above. Your deck is then completely clear for a 2025 free agent bonanza. Start banking the championships. I am leaning toward #2 myself because I think it will be more fun. |

Mets? They did lose some big pieces and gained some prospects but with all that money are they really a rebuild?
