PT Live Open Beta Information

The long-awaited PT Live Open Beta (barring any unforeseen circumstances) starts today, May 5!

Perfect Team LIVE is a daily opportunity to set lineups based on the Live cards you own, and based upon their real-life performance, you will get rewards in Perfect Team, specifically Perfect Points!

The beta will be available with a new patch of the game that also releases today! You WILL NEED the new patch in order to participate in the Open Beta, as it unlocks functionality for PT Live.

The Open Beta will not initially give out any PP rewards for performance, however when it officially goes live, PP rewards will be given out based on player performance, plus bonus weekly and monthly leaderboard prizes!

How Does PT Live Work?
Each day, you will create a lineup using any Live card you have in your personal card collection. A lineup is made up of:
  • 1 Catcher
  • 1 1B
  • 1 2B
  • 1 3B
  • 1 SS
  • 1 LF
  • 1 CF
  • 1 RF
  • 1 DH (any batter)
  • 2 "Utility" players (any batter)
  • 2 Starting Pitchers
  • 2 Relief Pitchers
Player eligibility at a position is limited to the position named on the front of the Live player's PT card. Card training in PT does NOT carry over to PT Live. (NOTE: Shohei Ohtani is eligible at BOTH SP and DH/Utility, but can only appear in one spot per day.)

You can use a maximum of 2 Perfects, 3 Diamonds and 4 Gold Cards; however lower cards may substitute for higher spots (i.e., you can use 5 Diamond cards and no Perfect Cards, or 9 Gold Cards and no Diamonds or Perfects).

At this time, Rosters may be submitted until 10 a.m. ET each day, at which point the daily roster will lock in. You will be able to set a lineup for the next day after the deadline for the current day has passed. For example, once the 10 a.m. ET deadline has passed for submitting a roster the May 5 games, you'll be able to set a lineup for the May 6 games.

Rosters must be submitted daily to earn points, but at this time, PT+ subscribers will have their roster auto-populate with the previous submission.

PT Live Scoring
Here is how the scoring breakdown is slated to work in PT Live:

Hitters
  • Single: 4 PP
  • Double: 6 PP
  • Triple: 10 PP
  • Home Run: 15 PP (+100 PP bonus for 3+ HR in a game)
  • Hits: 25 PP bonus for 4+ hits in a game
  • Run Scored: 6 PP
  • RBI: 6 PP
  • Walk/HBP: 3 PP
  • Stolen Base: 8 PP
  • Caught Stealing: -4 PP
Starting Pitchers
  • Win: 20 PP
  • Complete Game: 50 PP
  • Shutout: 100 PP
  • Inning Pitched: 4 PP
  • Strikeout 2 PP (+50 PP bonus for 10+ strikeouts)
  • Earned Run: -2 PP
Relief Pitchers
  • Win: 10 PP
  • Save: 30 PP
  • Hold: 15 PP
  • Inning Pitched: 4 PP
  • Strikeout: 3 PP
  • Earned Run: -2 PP
  • Blown Save: -2 PP
We hope you enjoy PT Live! If anything changes regarding these rules/guidelines prior to PT Live's official release, we will be sure to notify y'all as soon as possible. Below is a screenshot of what the roster selection screen will look like.

FAQ:

Q. When is game data populated?
A. Game data is populated both initially at 10 AM for the next day. Any changes after that for the day may not be reflected in the interface. Scheduled Starters are also updated at the same times. We are looking to update that more frequently.

Q. Can I see more game information?
A. On the MLB Schedule tab, we list out all the games, projected SP, and link to the MLB Gameday page where you can look up more information.

Q. Do I have to log in in the morning before 10AM to set my roster?
A. After the previous day's deadline, you can set the next day's roster. Hopefully down the road we can make the deadline more dynamic.

Q. What happens if I sell a player from my roster?
A. You need a copy of the cards. They are not tied to specific "instances", so if you have a duplicate of a card, you can safely sell either version of the card without worrying about selling the copy on your roster. The list automatically filters duplicate players.

Q. Do I have to manually copy in my roster every day if I am not a PT+ subscriber?
A. On the "Past Rosters" tab, you can view your past rosters, and use that to copy to the current roster. Also when your roster is empty, you will be able to hit a button to copy in your last submitted roster.

Q. What happens on the next live update?
A. You will need to ensure you have a legal roster after the live update. If players change tiers or change positions, you may have an invalid roster. It's certainly highly advisable to log in on the Monday morning before the deadline to check your roster.

Q. Can we see more stats?
A. It's certainly on our list to add! Right now, you can see how many points your players have earned each of the last few days, and the leaderboard tab will show daily/weekly/monthly leaders (weekly/monthly leaders will gain PP through leaderboard standings). We certainly are looking at more ways to help you set your lineup?

Q. Can I *lose* points from this?
A. No - you are always capped at 0. While some players individually with bad performances could have negative scores, as a team you cannot "get" negative points.

Q. Is PT Live be available on GO?
A. Not initially - we will announce when it will be available on mobile.

Thanks Rob and Matt. Like most others in the community, I am looking forward with great excitement to this new fantasy feature within the game. Thank you for always looking to add ways to make OOTP baseball more fun and interesting!

BETA feedback: Please make the injury indicator more visible. The "red cross" is nigh-invisible atop the bronze player background.

My team did not get any points yesterday even though I had a valid roster and it was submitted in time.

As mentioned, during the beta we are not distributing PP yet. We will enable PP distribution later in the beta period.

I wonder why injured players even show up. Maybe because by game time that might change? I think I'd have them hidden by default with a checkbox to show them if the user wants. I saw the injured status and I still almost fell for it (I added them to the roster, but later realized my mistake and removed them).

The points are calculated at 6am ET, so before then you won't see anything. After that, if you already logged in before, you may need to refresh to see the update.

Yeah, the data provider might mark players as "injured" for any bumps and bruises, and it's not until gametime or shortly before that you know for sure. We could add another filter to hide injured players too, but sometimes having too many "hide XXX" buttons just clutters things up.

PT Live going Live on Monday!

We're proud to announce that PT Live will officially kick off Monday, May 15!

Perfect points will begin to be awarded for PT Live performance beginning that day, and weekly leaderboards will also begin!

In addition to weekly leaderboards, we will also have monthly leaderboards, which begin June 1 and will run every month through the end of the regular season, as well as full-season leaderboards that are effective June 1-October 1!

A playoff version of PT Live will also be coming this postseason!

Leaderboard rewards are TBA at this time.

You ready for PT Live? It officially starts Monday!

10 AM roster lock is really early, lineup won't be announced, weather delays, etc...is there a way to swap out players who may be scratched or rained out?

What happens with suspended games?

Saturday, the NYM-WAS game was suspended and completed on Sunday. Sometimes the suspended game is completed months later.

I can't make any sense of this PT live thing. How do you add live players to your lineups? I only have the option of setting lineups w/ players that are currently on my active roster?

This all seems really clunky.

Truly, that's usually when I am getting up since I get home from work around 1 AM and can't get online then. (or I'll catch from the wife LOL)

You can set rosters the day before (anytime after 10 AM sets for the next day). We are still looking at potentially extending the deadline, but there's always going to be some limit.

If you go to the PT Live page, it should be fairly easy to go through and set your roster. If you're not a PT+ user, when you log in there's a button to load your previous lineup, or you can view your past rosters page and copy a lineup from there.
