End of Season 05, v24

Baltimore Barons (PT+)
Gold .305, 83-79, Must Win Wildcard Series to get Promoted to Diamond
4 Perfects (SP Verlander 15-7, 3.56 ERA), LF Juan Soto (.262/.412/.416), 3B Ken Caminiti (.270/.333/.446), SS Carlos Correa (.213/.256/.452)

FROM - 2 Perfects, 16 Diamonds, 8 Gold
TO - 4 Perfects, 19 Diamonds, 3 Gold

Good Week; roster improved at 8 positions (30%). Added 3B Ken Caminiti (100), SS Carlos Correa (100), SP Frank Tanana (95), RP Joe Ryan (84), C Thurman Munson (88), 1B Felipe Alou (96), CF Cesar Cedeno (98), and RF Elmer Flick (92). Even so, team found it hard to keep up with other teams' improvements second half of season. Hoping to gain promotion for 50k in PPs which will finance additional improvements.

Cleveland Commodores (F2P)
Iron .162, 82-80, Stays in Iron
2 Perfects (CF Julio Rodriguez (.244/.286/.351), Aaron Judge (.239/.320/.489)

FROM - 6 Diamonds, 12 Golds, 8 Silvers
TO - 2 Perfects, 8 Diamonds, 13 Golds, 3 Silvers

Obtained 2 Perfects late in season who then under-performed. Roster improved at 11 positions (42%). Added SP SHane Bieber (88), SP Aaron Nola (96), SP Allie Reynolds (85), SP Cannonball Titcomb (93), RP Erik Bedard (77), RP Tommy Greene (81), 2B Marcus Semien (89), 3B Carney Lansford (89), SS Honus Wagner (82), CF Julio Rodriguez (100), RF Aaron Judge (100).

Although we made improvements during the season, our 2 Perfect additions came late and didn't acclimate to the team quickly enough. So, another year in Iron for the Commodores.

Akron Aeros (F2P)
Gold .316, 89-73, Six straight losses at season's end land Aeros in Wildcard spot - Must Win 3 game series to Advance to Diamond
1 Perfect (LF Tim Raines, .267/.358/.392)

FROM - 1 Perfect, 10 Diamonds, 14Golds, 1 Silvers
TO - 1 Perfect, 13 Diamonds, 12 Golds

Improved roster by only 3 players (11%). Team did well with good chance to make Diamond Level until very end (lost 6 straight games). Picked up 3B Alex Bregman (92), 3B Randy Ready (93), and SS Tim Anderson (95).

Still an outside chance Barons and Aeros could make a visit to Diamond next week, but yesterday's performance has me expecting to be disappointed.

Update to come tonight.

Quito Mosquitos (PT+)
Goal: Perfect League participant
Gold .302, 84-78, 2nd place, 3rd wild card
24 diamonds, 2 perfects.(all historical)

I would have sold the perfects if I could have avoided the undercutter queue inhabited by 5 active undercutters already before I got my cards. I have 66 unique historical diamonds and whether I am using the best ones is a project beyond my meager skills to figure out.

The team got off to a hot start and was in first place as late as June, but the Summer Swoon hit them hard. A 14-3 surge in the final weeks saved the manager's bacon. They need not have bothered, though, as they lost the WC Series and will stay in gold.

Cleveland Locomotives (F2P)
Rookie .95, 104-58, 1st place
Goal: 26 historical perfect cards using only achievements and login rewards, no tournament spam nor twitch drops nor cash.
Interim goal: 26 historical gold cards (or better). ACHIEVED.

Made it to the finals where a mostly diamond team defeated my mostly gold team with no drama whatsoever.

End of Season 05, v24 (HRB UPDATE)

Before I post the final details, I need to point out that I had only reached Diamond Level ONCE in the last 5 years, and that was for a single week before I was unceremoniously returned to Gold. Using that as my high-tide position, I've broken that record this week by putting TWO of my teams in Diamond My goal will now obviously be to stay there as long as possible - but it is cool - for the moment - to have two teams in the top 12% of the entire PT Universe

Baltimore Barons (PT+)
Gold .305, 83-79, Won Wildcard Series 2-0 and pushed Division Series to 5 games before losing, Promoted to Diamond
4 Perfects (SP Verlander 15-7, 3.56 ERA), LF Juan Soto (.262/.412/.416), 3B Ken Caminiti (.270/.333/.446), SS Carlos Correa (.213/.256/.452)

FROM - 2 Perfects, 16 Diamonds, 8 Gold
TO - 4 Perfects, 19 Diamonds, 3 Gold

Good Week; roster improved at 8 positions (30%). Added 3B Ken Caminiti (100), SS Carlos Correa (100), SP Frank Tanana (95), RP Joe Ryan (84), C Thurman Munson (88), 1B Felipe Alou (96), CF Cesar Cedeno (98), and RF Elmer Flick (92).

Earned 50k PP bonus to make improvements that will hopefully keep us in Diamond for another week.

Although we made improvements during the season, our 2 Perfect additions came late and didn't acclimate to the team quickly enough. So, another year in Iron for the Commodores, but I have hopes we can crawl up to Bronze next week.

Akron Aeros (F2P)
Gold .316, 89-73, Also won wildcard Series 2-0 and lost Division Series 2-3, but Promoted to Diamond
1 Perfect (LF Tim Raines, .267/.358/.392)

FROM - 1 Perfect, 10 Diamonds, 14Golds, 1 Silvers
TO - 1 Perfect, 13 Diamonds, 12 Golds

Improved roster by only 3 players (11%). Picked up 3B Alex Bregman (92), 3B Randy Ready (93), and SS Tim Anderson (95). This team did very well - much better than I would have guessed given the makeup of its' roster.

Earned 50k PP bonus to make improvements that will hopefully keep us in Diamond for another week.

after 3 straight 100 win seasons, all of which ended with early post season flame-outs (two of which were LDS reverse sweeps where Waffletown took a 2-0 lead in the best of 5 only to lose games 3-4-5); the 2027 Waffletown Syrups went 95-67 in Iron .175, still good enough for the top seed in the AC.

In the playoffs, Waffletown took their usual 2-0 lead in the LDS and proceeded to lose games 3 and 4, leading to the usual feelings of dread at a trifecta of tragedy; but they would cheat fate this time and win game 5 to advance to the LCS.

In the LCS, the Syrups took the opposite approach, going down 3 games to 1 before rallying to win three straight to take the series 4-3 to advance to the World Series.

In the WS, Waffletown took what fans hoped was an insurmountable 3 games to none lead. They would lose game 4, but would avoid the building feelings of doom by winning game 5 to claim their first championship of PT24 with a 4-1 victory in game 5 to match their 4 games to 1 series win.

Syrups starter Johan Santana picked up the PoY award (17-11, 2.83 ERA, 245 IP, 227 K, 7.1 WAR). Possibility of the Reliever of the Year as well for Keith Foulke, who led the league with 43 saves (he also won the award in 2026), but still to be determined for that one.
