GM or Manager. That is the question
Been going back and forth with whether to be the GM or Manager. Some teams seem better fit for GM and some for Manager.
What are you choosing and why? |

Do you have a strategy when it comes to who you manage and who you GM?

Yeah I've been hoping for an owner mode for a long time. That would be amazing.

The best part about this game is that there is no right answer to your question. Personally I run one sim as GM only and I follow the real life season. I spend 10-30 minutes a day from April-September reviewing trade options, scanning the waiver wire, and evaluating prospects. Then I run another sim as a manager only where I just play the games based on how much time I have. Some days I play 5 games, some days none. I’ve found that for me if I try to do both GM and manager at the same time, I just don’t have enough time to do it right

I'm going to be managing the Reds when I stream the game and be the GM of the A'a for my YouTube Let's Play. Hopefully, with the Reds, I will stream more than I have been lately. I most likely will be doing 2, 4, or 6 games per stream. With the A's I will most likely be recapping what has occurred with the team and "watching" 1 game each in game month so I can get thru more seasons that way.
I will be lucky if the Reds get through 2 seaons while I hope to get several more with the A's.

I tried Manager only mode for the first time and really liked it. I just wish there was a feature to “discuss” with the General Manager before certain trades were made. Similar to the owner goals feature they added. I was just disappointed when my team traded away good decent young players for older pitchers. I would like the opportunity to say that I would rather keep our players instead.

Just curious has anyone themselves or heard of 2 people sharing a team. One manager other gm. Is it even possible? Seeing this thread made me wonder.

I have been playing OOTP since 2014 and I take over as gm and manager of the
White Sox every time. Why? I am a lifetime Sox fan, and part of my enjoyment of this game is putting the team together which of course involves drafting, trading, and free agency. I set the trading easy/hard setting to 17. You also must put together a team to allow for injuries and have some versatile players. On the managerial side if I bring in a reliever who is a little tired late in the game and he loses the game that is on me, but I feel like I will do a better job managing than the AI. Bottom line at the end of the day I enjoy fully immersing myself in the game and doing the best I can to win. Of course you should do what is most appealing to you. I play out each game each batter at a time and watch the 3d animations as I go (which improve every year and I hope this trend continues. Also being a Sox fan in real life can be frustrating but in this game I call all the shots so its all on me. Last edited by gamernamer05; 03-30-2023 at 11:07 PM. Reason: wanted to add something |

GM 90%
GM & Mgr 10% with Bench Coach doing the heavy lifting. I just don't have the hours to spend playing out games. Perhaps once I am retired I can do it.

Of course, if I didn't play Football Manager 16 hours a day (bit of exaggeration), I may just have enough time, lol. |
