Regular Install vs Single Folder - What's Best for External HD?
If I'm going to install the game on a 2TB external HD, do I do better to use the single folder installation? If so, is there anything additional I need to make sure is on my external drive to make sure the game runs correctly?

I used the regular installer, directed it to install it on a different drive than default, and it automatically installed everything in one folder on that drive.... so, I'm not sure what the single folder installation does that the regular installer doesn't do, but, what you are wanting to do will work with the regular installer for sure. |

If you want to plug the external HD into different devices and play OOTP from them, that’s going to be the main use of the single folder install I believe. Otherwise, if it’s just a hard drive for you, go with the regular install.

I've run OOTP on an external HD for the last several years. Always used the basic install. Never had any problems.
The external HD was always connected to the same PC. Never moved it from one machine to another - so I have no idea if single folder would help there or not. But in my experience the standard install on an external HD has been fine. |
