New Pitch Ratings

A couple of my young relievers have started working on a new pitch (mid-season), The ratings for these pitches are below 10. How can I have them develop these pitches but not use them in a game? Earlier in the year using them in middle and /or low-leverage situations they did a good job. But since the addition of these pitches, I can barely get an inning from them,, they are allowing more baserunners more runs, and more home runs. How do others handle this?

With ratings that low, your relief pitchers likely won’t use them at all, and additionally the way the game works, even if they did those pitches would only have a (probably very small) positive effect. The biggest hidden bonus there is that if they build those out to some degree they might be able to become starters.

As Syd has said, adding new pitches is strictly better. A pitcher with 100/100/10 pitches is better than one with 100/100 pitches.
