Dunno about the Cardinals. Wheeler is better than anyone the Cards have, and he OWNS the Cardinals, like the Cardinals own Kershaw.

IF the Cards go down 0-1, it would be very difficult to win the next two.

Same for all the three game initial series..the first win would make that team prohibitive favorites to win the short series.

Have fun with the playoffs, everybody. MLB changed the terms and conditions on international blackouts literally yesterday, and I'm locked out now, even though this other page says I should not be.

Fun.

Yeah, I had heard about that too. (I'm an American in Europe.) I don't know what MLB is thinking with so many decisions that it has made the last few years, and this is another one.

I mean, okay if you want to make this horrible decision, but they shouldn't be changing it at the literal last minute. Not only does it give almost no time for those who do have other legal options to scramble and get those, but in the vast majority of countries in the world, there is now no legal way to watch these games.

Plus, there are all of those who paid for a season subscription with the understanding that the playoffs were included who are understandably really upset for that reason.

ETA: I guess those located in countries with no other legal means to watch these games are included in that image that you posted, but you're still blacked out ...

I don't think postseason has ever been included in the season subscription, so that misunderstanding is on whoever thought it was.

I'm just referring to international subscribers.

When people signed up at any point prior to the last day or so, it said that postseason games were blacked out just in the U.S., etc. Also, international viewers have *always* been able to watch postseason games with an MLB.TV subscription.

Bah. This is why I avoid premium subscriptions like the plague. In addition to blackouts and less than good quality streaming at times, there are misconceptions and broken promises.

Me, I'll be glad to catch a few games with the good old basic cable service. Right now, I'm digging on Mariners-Jays thanks to ESPN.

I know there are pros and cons to the new playoff format, but right now, as we get under way this is a thing of beauty to me:

The Guardians kicked it off earlier today with a tight win over the Rays, 2-1. And that's not a score up there in the top right, although the Phillies did beat the Cardinals by a score of 6-3, the same as their seed numbers, the final coming in just after I took that screen shot.

It should be noted that both starters shined in the Shane-a-thon, with both Bieber and McClanahan going 7 strong innings.

Sadly, it should also be noted that this was the very first time in the AL this season that both starting pitchers had gone a lousy 7 innings. Juan Marichal and Warren Spahn are spinning in their graves. (And Juan isn't even dead!)

I really, really, really (x 100) hate Manfred-ball.

(In the other 6 v. 3 matchup, Zack Wheeler cruised through six innings, got the first out in the 7th, and then was pulled. Juan Alvarado got the second out, walked a guy, and then gave up the 2-run homer to Juan Yepez. Which looked to doom the Phils , for a while.

But what do you want? Wheeler had thrown 96 pitches! And was totally cruising and showing no strain and had all winter to rest up, potentially. Why keep him in a scoreless game? JFC.

Of course, the Phils came back. Because Marmol tried to have Helsley get the 5-out save. Gee, maybe if he'd kept his starter in a bit longer, he wouldn't have had to ask Helsley to throw so much? But how could Marmol think of doing that??)

Yes, the key distinction here is *international* subscribers. The postseason has been included in the subscription for those for at least as long as I have been watching, which is since 2012.

The archives work, but with the availability delay it's impossible for the average European to even watch a day game to completion on the same day it's played and then have a normal-sized cap of sleep before merrying singing their way into the mines in the morning - let alone watch two games in one go.

I'm ravaged. I feel like Ypres, 1918. This is the second-worst thing Rob Numbfred has done to baseball, ever...!

Now excuse me, I just watched the first half of the Mets' 2022 playoffs, and now have some more rolling up into a ball and sobbing to do.

Gotcha. I was unaware of the difference between US and international.

Imagine what. MLB TV also works in ******** countries again, like, y'know, Germany.

From what I could look up quickly, the MLB TV subscription is no longer valid for the playoffs for international subscribers IF (and only IF) there is a rightsholder with a licence in that country (f.e. Canada, Australia, UK, Netherlands and a few more).

But what Numbfred's minions did was to hit the killswitch for EVERYBODY.

Bunch of numbnuts......

Yeah, if MLB is changing their T&C effectively immediately like that I'm thinking someone could sue for it, as silly as it might be to sue over approx. $100. But if you regularly bought the yearly subscription and got the postseason included and now all of a sudden as the postseason starts you don't, well, that's just not good business practices. Change it up front next year, but not now.

I was going to get the postseason package like I did last year, but I did the 7 day trial for the last week of the season and I can't remember the last time I had so many technical difficulties with the feeds, like crashing right in the middle of a game. That, and it was regularly telling me I was blacked out for all games, like even Atlanta, which if I was in their blackout zone I should be for everybody.

Uh-oh. No ghost runner on second base in extra-inning playoff games. Imagine the ESPN executives sweating: 3:30 PM; TB-CLE 0-0 in the 11th; no end in sight; they're committed to telecasting Seattle/Toronto or North Carolina at Miami at 4PM. "Call Manfred. See if anything can be done!"

Few years back, the leagues would be staggered on those four-games-a-day days. AL-NL-AL-NL or vice versa, probably to prevent just this.

Next year: fake bogus runner in extras in the payoffs. To... uh... "improve the gameflow"?

Ha ha, they moved the college football game to something called ESPN NEWS HD which on my system is channel 216, according to a yellow banner on the bottom of the screen. Trouble is, I don't get ESPN NEWS HD. Good thing I'm not a Hurricanes or Tarheels fan. What a (sports) world we live in today!

Three runs in 24 innings. Offense ain't the Guardians' forte, huh?

Ha, ha, again: As soon as the Cleveland - Tampa Bay game was over, and they were done fawning over Oscar Gonzalez, the NC - Miami game magically appeared, back from high channel number oblivion! (Joined in progress, of course.)
