Baseball in the world of the Elder Scrolls

There are three leagues with the premier league, Tamriel Baseball League, being set on the continent of Tamriel. There is a second league set in the outlying continents called the Nirn Baseball Association as well as a small independent league set on Tamriel.

The Tamriel Baseball League (TBL) is divided into two subleagues, North and South, with 5 divisions each.
The island of Vvardenfell has been seperated from Morrowind to stand as its own province.
Each province has its own division of 4 teams with Vvardenfell and Solstheim being combined into one division.
Each team has three minor league teams.

There is no interleague play and each team plays two 3 game series a week, FR-SU and MO-WE, taking every Thursday off for a full 162 game season.
In the playoffs, the North and South Leagues are represented by 3 wild card teams plus the 5 division champions.

All three levels of minor leagues play a 145 game schedule that consists of 5 game series followed by a travel day. Their playoff is set up in the same fashion as the TBL.

The Nirn Baseball Association (NBA) consists of four 10 team divisions each representing the four continents surrounding Tamriel.
Aldmeris and Pyandonea form the South League while Akavir and Yokuda for the North League.
There are no minor league teams in the NBA, instead each team has a 25 man reserve roster in addition to their 25 man main roster.

To reduce travel costs, each team in the NBA plays a 162 game schedule entirely against opponents in its own division.
Each series is 6 games long with every Monday being an off day for travel.
The top 4 teams in each division qualify for the playoffs and are seeded by winning percentage.

The Baseball Association of Tamriel (BAT) is a small independent league stretching from Valenwood to Morrowind and has the only professional team from the small province of Roscrea.
The BAT is divided into the Northeast and Southwest Leagues, with each league having two 6 team divisions.
Each team plays a 104 game schedule consisting of 4 game series with no interleague play. Each series runs from Thursday to Sunday with the players having Monday through Wednesday off to work so they can supplement their meager BAT salaries.

The top two teams from each division win berths to the playoffs with no wild card teams. No team plays a division opponent in the first round of the playoffs.

The league structure makes sense, even if it must be a very hard decision to cut each province down to just 4 teams at the top level. I could go on and on about how I'd play favorites, but ultimately I'm not in charge, heh. Maybe my favorite locations are content with AAA though if it's a big deal in Tamriel, as they at least seem to have all made that list!

It was very tough to decide who was in and out of the major league level. Especially Skyrim and Cyrodiil.

In the first couple iterations of the league, Windhelm and Winterhold were actually switched which bothered me to the point where I finally swapped their teams.

The NBA got expanded from 16 to 24 teams because 16 felt too small for such a large area. Then it was expanded to 40 with the idea of possibly making a 5 level 40 team pro/rel although I’ve never pulled the trigger on that.

I’ve also toyed with the idea of bumping up all of the AAA teams and dividing AA and A between an 80 team TBL but that feels like over kill.

But I’d love to hear other thoughts on it.

Yeah, what year are you using as the "present"? At least in 4E Windhelm over Winterhold seems like a solid choice, tbh any era really, though in past eras Winterhold wouldn't be quite as done out.

My current favorite Skyrim city is Riften, but I feel conflicted about it because it's also my brother's favorite Skyrim city, and he's a big thieves guild person so he has much more reason to like it (I kinda think the thieves guild is dumb). It's just a really pleasing city from an aesthetic point of view though.

When I was putting it together I had 5+E in mind.

That was kinda how I justified a resurgence of the Winterhold population. They’re the 5th biggest city in Skyrim.

I also selectively ignored things like the destruction of Kvatch and Helgen, or Baar Dau impacting Vivec and Southern Vvardenfell.

Skyrim was a tough one to put together. I could’ve just as easily put Falkreath or Riften in place of Whiterun and kept a geographic balance but Whiterun won out because it was such an important city to all of my playthroughs.

This is really cool. I love how you incorporated other places from Nirn into the world. I had to go searching for some of the places because I guess my focus has only ever been on Tamriel. For example, I knew nothing about Akavir at all. It would be cool to be able to explore some of the other places of Nirn at some point to see what the gods were up to in their creations of the mortals of Nirn.

Are you going to continue this as a dynasty or just post some information about the leagues and not really post all about them?

You mentioned that this is the 5th Era. Are you starting the league in the year 1? Is this along the canon of the emperor being assassinated in Skyrim, too?

I like that places like Kvatch are intact or rebuilt. I had to do some of the same in my Fallout leagues to fit what I want to cover.

Considering my opinion of Falkreath went from "what a useless city" to "wow this place is actually pretty great" probably about 4 days ago IRL I'll refrain from critiquing it too much, heh. My second favorite city in Skyrim is Morthal though, which even I can admit is an objectively useless city.

From your Dynasty, I can assume you've played most of Bethesda's games, but have you ever dabbled in Paradox Interactive's games? There's a really good Elder Scrolls mod for CK2 (and probably for CK3 in the next 6 months once they finally manage to port it) that let's you be a feudal lord in the Elder Scrolls setting, with the earliest start date being 20 years after the fall of the Second Empire and the playable timeframe being 1600 years from that point, so to roughly 4E 400. The game map is the entirety of Nirn, and has really taught me a lot about lore/ES geography, as it has not just Tamriel, but Akavir, the remnants of where the Redguard came from, and the remnants of where the elves came from.

I also think Kvatch being rebuilt is actually canon too, not sure about the other locations though, but I also don't remember where I got that from. It's a real "blink and you miss it" reference.

Crusader Kings is on my steam wishlist, I just haven’t pulled the trigger on buying it. A TES mod just might push me over the edge

I thought about working through the politics and setting up separate leagues at whey I thought things might fall but I opted for keeping it simple instead

I’ve thought about it but I don’t know if I can devote that much time to it. Might post updates as things flesh out though.

Still need to finish uniforms. Only TBL has them. No minors, NBA, or BAT. I’ll probably share those as they wrap up

At the risk of totally taking any time you had for this away.... CK2, which is what the mod is functional for... is technically free... the base game... and you can get all the DLC for it (literally all the DLC) in a subscription plan (otherwise.... there's a lot of DLC... I have it actually bought, but I bought it as it came out, not all at once).

Elder Kings doesn't require any DLC... but certain DLC does make the experience drastically better as certain features are incorporated if you have those DLC.

Learning curve is pretty steep too... even more so for the mod...

I downloaded the CKII game and the Elder Scrolls mod. All I can say is that the map is cool. Otherwise, I am lost. I will have to jump in when I have time to learn the game.

I've admittedly been a little lazy and have only done the uniforms for the TBL teams but none of the minor league teams, NBA, or BAT teams.

But alas, here are the teams that grace the highest level of baseball in Tamriel:
