Topps 1977 updated
This is a new version of the Topps 1977 bbcard template. I started with klavier's files taken from this page: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...ighlight=topps, and then made some improvements. In order for these files to work properly, you will need klavier's original files ... then add in the files uploaded below.
I tried to have the team name stroked in black, the way it is in real life, but the stroke always cam out distorted, so I went with plain text. Due to size limits on attachments, there are three zip files:
All of the templates have a line in them that uses my team backgrounds file (which can be found here: https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=328973). If you want to take the team backgrounds out, edit the xml file by taking out the token with [%TEAM_NICK]_[%RANDOM_NUMBER].png. |

These cards look amazing! Your installation instructions are applicable on a Mac also?

Thanx! Mac ... not sure; I'm not a Mac user. Maybe someone who is can chime in.

The only difference for a Mac (for someone else who downloads this someday) is put it in the bbcards mac folder in your OOTP install. If you can't find the folders on your mac, use the OOTP settings/troubleshooting tab and click the customizable data folder. It's in the main OOTP directory under bb_cards

These are great! Question... how do I get the position flag to work?

(just saw this) ... Thanx! Not sure what you mean about the flags, though. Are the flags not coming up properly? They work on my end. What are you seeing?
(EDIT) ... Wait a sec, I think I might have figured out your problem .... do you have klavier's original Topps 1977 files? You need those files; that's where the position flags are (see the link at the top of this thread). Unless you have those files and the files I've uploaded here, my modification won't work. And klavier gets major props for that work; I'm just building on it. Last edited by Fonzie13; 09-12-2022 at 11:49 PM. |

I tried making these myself a long ways back but had trouble with outlining the position banners. Frustrated, I sacked it. Glad you made a real nice version.

I've created a combined file with some tweaks for stability and uploaded it here:

Question about these baseball card templates. I've never used them before. Do they work for fictional leagues and teams?

My edits don't, but klavier's original files do.

I'm computer illiterate when it comes to this stuff. I was able to figure out how to download and install uniforms and 3D models, but I have no idea what to do with the baseball cards. Any tutorials here with pictures or videos? I have a Mac.

I'm not a Mac guy, so I don't know the directory structure for where to put the files ... sorry.

I don't have a Mac either, but there is a folder called "ootp23_mac" that can be found by following the folder path indicated in the screenshot below. I assume this is where OOTP on a Mac looks to when generating baseball cards. Create a new folder called "default cards" (or "original" or whatever) and move the default images folder and xml files into it. Then unzip the card files you want to use (the new images folder and xml files) into the "ootp23_mac" folder. Fire up OOTP23 and you should see the new card templates available when you go to a player's baseball card page.

It's virtually impossible to open a Finder window and navigate to the right folders on a Mac.
Instead, open up the game and click on the settings button in the bottom left of the start screen. Choose the troubleshooting tab, and then click the button to Open folder containing Customizable Data. That'll open a Finder window the right place, and from there you can open the bb_cards folder, the templates folder, and then the ootp_mac folder. That's where the xml files need to go. The images go in the images subfolder in that one. More instructions here.

So let me ask some dumb newb questions. Obviously you can only use these for a league set up like 1977. If I want to use them on a modern 32 team league, how do I do that?

The game uses several different xml template files to automatically generate baseball cards. The primary one is called default.xml. The game will also look for year specific templates which can be given a year or year range designation. e.g. default_1977.xml will be used just for 1977. If you rename the xml files according to the years you want them used or remove the year designations, they can be used for any year your league is in. More info here: Baseball Card Installation Guide Of course, if you want to generate cards manually for a player, you can choose any template in your bb_cards directory and it'll generate the card for that player at the current point in time regardless of the name of the xml file.
