BBCARDS: specific team backgrounds
These files are to be used to create randomized team specific backgrounds for baseball cards, at least for PCs. I have no idea if/how they work on a Mac.
1. THE IMAGES - CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE Some of these images are my own creation, some are taken from bbcards images already on site (like Gambo's amazing work), and some are adapted from either the stadium art of Gary Grigsby (https://pixels.com/profiles/1-gary-grigsby) or the minimalist art of S. Preston (https://sprestondesigns.com/). 2. THE HOW AND WHY Copy all of the images in this file, BBCARDS_TEAM_BACKGROUNDS.zip, into your bbcards images directory (for OOTP22, it's Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 22\bb_cards\templates\ootp22\images). FYI, each file starts with "z_" merely to make them easy to find; they'll be the last files alphabetically in the directory. Each team has 10 files, because my understanding is that the [%RANDOM_NUMBER] xml token requires 10 images to work properly (otherwise, some cards will have blank backgrounds). Most teams have 10 different files; some teams have repeats in their ten files. If you don't like an image, simply take it out, duplicate another image, and give it the name of the file you didn't like (that will keep the team's files at 10). 3. THE XML EDIT To use these files, edit the xml for a given bbcard template to include the following lines for the front photo data: <ELEMENT type="image" x="0" y="0" zorder="0" width="220" height="320" content="z_[%TEAM_NICK]_[%RANDOM_NUMBER].png" add_background="0" /> <ELEMENT type="image" x="6" y="9" zorder="1" width="206" height="309" content="PICTURE" facegen_zoom = "out" facegen_angle = "random" add_background="0"/> Depending on the template you are using, you might need to play around incrementally with the width/height. And of course, if you prefer the zoomed-in facegen, that token can also be changed. The files in the sample sheet below are some of my favorite designs, and they were made with my edit of the 1961 Topps set. This file - 1961TOPPSMODIFIED.zip - has everything you would need in order to make this set yourself. (At least, I hope it does ... if it doesn't, please reply to this thread and I'll look and see what I screwed up.) 4. WAIT, WAIT ... ARE THOSE THE MONTREAL EXPOS?!? Yep. Threw in a set for Montreal, hoping that one day ... |

This is a pretty neat idea, and made me think of all my old cards that had weird locales for the shoots. It seemed like most were taken in Yankee Stadium or Oakland, or miscellaneous spring training locations.
Your idea is a lot better!

Here are the illustrations. The zip files also contain background images without the trophies (you'll have to change the name of the background image file in the xml).
