Whales should rise faster...

The more I see in the early weeks of Perfect Team, the more I become convinced that the Promotion logic should move teams that are significantly better than the teams they are playing against TWO levels up instead of one.

It's not just because we want them to get out of the way faster, there's a more nefarious reason...

When multiple top-heavy teams start running 90-10 win/loss records, that results in other divisional leaders being included in the weekly promotion sporting sub-.500 records. These teams are doomed to be torn up in the higher level and likely to be relegated the following week.

See the example below from one of my teams. The bottom 5 teams in the promotion list have a combined winning percentage of .500 or less due to the top-heavy four teams having a combined 317-112 record .739.

Promoting teams with sub .500 records ultimately will deflate any fun for those owners until weeks go by to thin out the Whales in the lower levels. Moving them up faster would resolve this issue and make it more competitive for everyone..

Thoughts?

I don't know, man, they can only rise once per season. It seems like it'd be unfair the other way. Mostly, the whales will get on out of the lower leagues within a couple of weeks. The real issue for me are the people who tank their way down to the lower levels and then post these gaudy records over and over again on the way back up. I think the PT team has closed some of the loopholes that made that possible, at least.

Second what Syd said. It's only an issue at the very beginning and even then, not much of an issue.

Everything will even out in a month or so. I understand your frustration, but no system is perfect. If a team with a bad record is promoted they will be relegated the following week. Sure that week may be rough, but at the end of the day, it’s only a week.

Then there are the teams that don't submit their live missions as they complete them, but submit them all at once on a Monday morning and romp with 140 wins. Or should we make a rule to combat that strategy?

Why would a developer punish players who are spending money on points ?

Was there a limit on rewards in the lower level in this version. I routed a team 22-1, but only received just over 1,000 PP in total. It was much higher in PT21.

In general, rewards seem a lot more paltry in this year's versions. A number of them have been nerfed.

How do you see rising through the ranks as "punishment" unless beating up on far weaker teams is part of the enjoyment?

All I'm proposing is to even the competition a bit by separating the strong from the weak a little faster than it is now.

I don't think there is a limit, but some of the "traditional" challenges have been nerfed, and the points have been repurposed into new challenges that are a lot more difficult to reach in general, at least for now at the start because of a lack of talent on the team.

For example, this morning I got 800 points for having a pitcher get 14 straight quality starts. The likelihood of a Bronze or lower level SP to get that achievement is probably pretty low, especially now while the whales and stronger teams have not all been sorted out at the top yet. There are also new challenges for consecutive hits etc. Better cards will probably increase the chance for those, but even then, it's not like you can get 3 strings of 14 QS with the same pitcher in one season, so while the 800 points is nice, it's very situational and I'm not sure how much it offsets the reduction of other challenges.

Made a suggestion like this last year. Out of the Pockets said no then, they'll say no now, and they'll say no next time someone suggests it. Cuz they care about dollar$ more than sense.

It's like companies shouldn't be concerned about making silly things like money, eh comrade?

Its all about accruing PP at lower levels, skipping a level would mean skipping a load of PP

This is correct. The more you can stay at the lower levels the better for PP. Attached is a perfect PP example of a team I encountered in PT20 that mastered the lower level PP game by avoiding promotion by losing in the division series. I don't know whether to be angry or amazed?

In general, you'll be happier in life if you take the "amazed" route over the "angry" option.

My understanding is that the crew will be watching for obvious manipulations. In terms of the main post here, this will sort itself out quickly over the next few weeks.

I’m largely a FTP guy. I spent $10 on opening day to have some points to build my tourney team. Since then it has been about managing tournaments. Getting a jump on my tournament team paid off with about 250 packs won to date. Others are building solid tournament teams at this point but I’m still able to average about ten packs a day.

After opening my starter packs on launch day, I set my team for the Entry Pool with the best players I had available and let it run while I focused on the tournaments and missions. My team went a little below .500 in the entry pool and I got placed into a Rookie League. I swapped out players as I opened packs and won my Rookie League with a 109-53 record.

I completed the Live missions before this week started which gave me a strong team for my current Stone league. The team has dominated with a 123-39 record going into today’s playoffs. This team should carry me through to the Gold level in the coming weeks with few changes. I’ll quickly be out of the way of teams which are trying to work their way out of the lower levels. With 84K in the bank I’ll now be grinding tournaments, working on missions, and mapping out my plan going forward.

Ideally, you'd take the "report to the admins" option, which the admins follow up with the "banning for unfair play" option.

I stated this in an earlier thread and the usual apologist came in and said that wasn't true. A lot of the big PP bonus points have been reduced and usually cut in half from what I've seen so far.
