With all the recent bad behaviour of fans at MLB games, including Carl Everett getting hit in the head with a cell phone (see: http://sportsnet.ca/mlb/story/105079...10507984102443), there's been talk that perhaps MLB should stop stadiums from selling alcohol at games? Not that they will because I doubt many people think they will for financial reasons, but should they?

No. It's entertaining every once in a while to see some drunken idiot run out onto the field and get his butt kicked by both benches.
![]() Seriously though, like you said, they might stand to lose too much money because of a few bad seeds. It doesn't sound prudent. |

They need to enforce sensible limits regarding their sales, something that has been ignored.
If a fan is obviously intoxicated, the team should have the right (and sometimes use it) to ask them to leave, just as any person has the right to kick them out of their house. (I know, the problem exists with them being paying customers...) |

I fail to see a problem with Carl Everett getting hit in the head with a cell phone.

Agreed. Nobody deserves that (unless they provoke it...).

for the record, I knew he was joking, and I also was joking, but I am going through another "Smiley Faces Are Too Effinate" phase.

I can not imagine any scenario in which beer will not be sold at baseball games anytime in the near future. To suggest that the drunken field charging fans in Commiskey or the idiot in Oakland who threw the cell phone are part of some new trend is ludicrous. Fans have been making asses of themselves for years. From Cobb to Everett, this is nothing new.
Besides, ask officials from Coors Field, Miller Park, and Busch Stadium how they feel about banning beer sales.

Rizon, the game of baseball should be played on the field, not in the stands. When fans interfere physically with the game of baseball, that's where the line has to be drawn, no matter who it is.

I say no because these things would happen either way. People who have been doing them have not been drunk.
