Let’s talk about bronze and iron meta
What are your tips and tricks? I’ve only won one tourney so far but both my bronze and iron rosters are fairly filled with 68/69s and 58/59s respectively. The ones I’ve heard are:
Bronze ————— Get 1982 Ozzie Smith If you can’t do that, 1906 Joe Tinker will work Iron ————— Get 1958 Don Newcombe and play him at DH I’m certain I’m missing huge things but, well, let’s talk about it!

Besides maxing out their overalls, my best 2 guesses are players with say outstanding contact, power..maybe discipline... stuff (so long as the other ratings aren't atrocious)...in particular control, a high control rating on one of those iron bronzes.
The other one, is when you look at their ratings & I go OK this guy is a 64 but he is rated better in 6 out of 8 categories than this 80 that is just particularly good at hitting HRs but strikes out against every good power pitcher. So maybe high avoid Ks. The ratings in 3.0 are pretty fun.

& I'm assuming you're going to account for infield defense up the middle, catcher & CF ratings a bit. CF not at the expense of at the plate but the other 3? Well, they can really change an inning when your team is out in the field.

How far do you go in search of middle infield defense though? Like, if you're in an Iron tournament, do you start Mark Belanger, who's only a 49 because he hits like a pitcher, but has an 85/80 fielding rating? Like, obviously the Ernie Banks rookie card is a little useless because the fielding is awful but is there any in-between?

I can only speak for PT2.0 tourneys. My bronze tourney team is consistently competitive, and less than half my active roster are 68/69 ranked cards. Decide on a strategy and go all the way on it. Also, individual ratings are way more important than overall imo.

3.0 for me, but I’m sure 2.0 ideas can apply (if not necessarily the exact same cards).

Personally at bronze, I like Orlando Hudson at second base.
Sometimes at SS it is all about defense but there are some exceptions.

Carew
I'd play Carew over Hudson at 2B in a bronze tournament if not for analysis...you know perhaps a bit too much analysis, perhaps just enough...someone compare their performances, ha...just kidding, I think. Shortstop...Yeah, when I fielded an all-bronze team I just made sure to put the best fielding shortstop in. I didn't have...any excellent hitters, though...they probably wouldn't be bronzes.

There is probably a man out there for that, though?
All other things the same, a team with bronze level Hudson or Carew at 2B? WhoaWheew
