Where can we find some committed owners?
Please excuse the cross post, but I truly believe that we have some fun, original ideas and a committed core of owners for Dog Days Baseball . However, we are having trouble coming up with enough owners to get under way.
I've spent a lot of time playtesting these rule modifications, and I really believe you will find it an unusually immersive experience... and I can guarantee you a hard working commish. Edit: updated URL as of March 2004

Beorn, I know you will run a great league but with the 4 I am in, along with work, school, a fiance, a son, two dogs and whatever else I have going, I just cant make the time.
If I had time I'd be like Jeff Cobb and be in 20 leagues

Well, you have my interest as a league observer!
I think your DDB rules are interesting and worth a look. My general speculation is that the modifications and 'extras' you've worked very hard on would appeal to the veteran OOTP gamer, more so than the newer folks in our community. Perhaps there are not a lot of experienced OOTP online players with the time to take on a new league without divesting themselves of a current one. Another thing to consider is the "fictional universe" setting while very appealing to some, its not as appealing to much of the mainstream. When Laseron Baseball had openings, they were not always filled very quickly.

That league sounds fantastic. How much time (on average) would you think an owner has to dedicate to it each day/week to run their team effectively?
I'm very interested in your league, but I've never played in an online league and it seems a little intimidating.

Wow, the DDB sounds really good. Wish I had time to commit to it, as it sounds like it takes a lot of work!

Beorn, your league is going to suck! It has a horrible commish and no good owners!

Wow beorn! You've done an awesome amount of work with this league so far. I love your team names and logos and I love how you've really tried to show the unique identities of each. I've already hit my max, but I really hope you're league becomes very successful!

But compared to other on-line leagues, I would say somewhat more time, but not vastly more time. When negotiating contracts, you'll need to send emails to the agents. When making roster moves, you'll need to think about things like player popularity, attitude, etc. I don't think that this will turn out to be an extreme amount of time, though. Many times you will just make minor adjustment to your lineup, just like any other on-line league. As to this sounding intimidating, I guess I felt that way when I started playing on line a year and a half ago -- and I'm sure glad that I gave it a go. I predict this will turn out the same way. A few weeks into the league, all the routines will seem like second nature, and, in the meantime, I'm glad to help out. (I'm not the competition -- I don't run a team.) You could also take one of the stronger teams -- that way you can beat up on Kelric, much to my enjoyment.

Though I do predict a rather large learning curve getting used to all these outside factors affecting our players, especially for those of us (Tim, I'm looking at you) who like to trade a lot and make a lot of minor adjustment. |

Beorn,
I'm in the same boat as the rest of these guys. I would jump at the chance to join your league if I had room. But adding another league is not an option at this point. In fact, I recently had to withdraw from a league I really liked due to time concerns. Your league has everything I would look for in a league - fictional, realistic rules, very personalized. I agree that it leans a little toward the veteran OOTP player, which is difficult because the vets have been around long enough to become firmly entrenched in other leagues. Count me among the interested bystander crowd. |

I'd love to see your random number generators and formulas. I might be able to work up something through BOSI to remove the manual labor portion of signing extensions/free agents.
If you don't mind, please send them to bosi@allin1websolutions.com. Looks like you've got a great league.

We're making progress... Now, we need five more owners!

Beorn,
Would be extremely interested. How newbie-friendly is your league? I've never played in an online league before. What is the sim frequency?

Hammer hit the nail on the head. I am in the same boat as he is. I'd love to join, but I am having trouble keeping up with the commitments to the leagues I am currently in.
It just takes too much time coming up with a strategy to beat all of the other KL guys in the ABA. I'll be watching with interest. |
