New player.. I decidedly dislike PT mode.

Going against stacked teams in the entry pool isn't fun at all, I'll stick to the single player game modes I guess.

I welcome his decision as long as he doesn't open the same thread every week like certain others.

Okay, I'll respond. The entry pool is a different beast altogether. I basically use it to accumulate points and that's it. In fact, the entry pool stats will disappear into the ether, never to be seen again. Once you get into the Iron League next week, and actually play real games, it's totally different.

Play for a real couple of weeks and then see how you feel. Basing your opinion of Perfect Team on your experience in Entry Pool is like going to Disney World and then deciding it sucked because you didn't like the line for Space Mountain.

I think this has to be a first though. I don’t recall people complaining about whales in the Entry League.

Since there are so many teams and you don’t face the same one over and over, you should be able to still accumulate lots of wins.

My kids and I have two teams in two different Entry leagues and none of them seem overwhelming. I think I saw one team in each league with some solid cards (strangely most of them were acquired from the same previous owner....).

A zero cash investment team can still get to a .650 or higher record and collect lots of points before getting to Iron league.

If you are in our leagues, look for the Woodinville Talent Thieves or Washington Base Stealers.
Both teams are easy to duplicate using players from the Auction House.
Most of them are really cheap in terms of PPs required to get them.

Perfect Team can give you a sticker shock when you see some of the top teams but remember that there are groups like the “OL league”. So you can compete against teams with similar cash investments.

I have my team in the same league as Washington Base Stealers. Just take a look at Newport Storm, and THEN look at DAH Bears. Looking around the league, there are various stacked teams in this entry pool.

The entry pool is just a "black hole", try everything you want one week trial and you should not be taking the results there seriously.

I would recommend you to try the mode for another week or two before you give your final verdict. On the other hand, I don't think you will enjoy the mode if you don't like going against stacked team, so the chance of you not liking the mode even if you give it another one or two is rather high IMO. Do what you want.

If the entry pool depresses you I think the right decision is to quit. You will face better teams than you almost every week in the leagues. There are many, many FTP teams that are very, very good. Look into the Our League post in this forum to play against free to play teams. Your problem then will be being simply out managed by players that have spent nothing, If you cannot tolerate losing at all, by all means go back to solo play and check the commissioner mode box, Good luck with what ever you do.

You don't know what stacked is. In my perfect league there are 321 perfect 100 level players and 519 diamonds. Given there are only 750 players on the active rosters, that means 90 of these players are sitting in the reserves.

Being out managed isn't the issue that I described. The issue I described was running into very stacked teams in the very opening entry pool. See here:

The entry pool isn't even the real game. It's like deciding not to go into disney world because someone on the shuttle bought one of those fast passes.

It's adorable that you think this constitutes "very stacked"

It’s important as a FTP PT player to find one’s own fun & goals, with success being a lovely bonus.

He is going to need a lot better team soon. If you think that team is stacked you are in for a very shocking future. Most of us played from day one and competed in Entry Pool against teams with mostly Perfect and high historical Diamond cards. I only say mostly Perfect and Diamond cards because there is a few lower cards that play well in all levels. The players on that team are not elite. In PT as others have mentioned, find your niche and have fun. I recommended Our League because we are free to play only with historical cards. Many of our members have very good Perfect league teams that we spent money on but I think I can safely say that most of us have more fun trying to put together a good team with a restrictive set of rules. I have an Our League team that is in Perfect with a lower card level average than you show as your nemesis. Several of our members do. One of our members has Little League aged sons in Perfect League with teams far from being Perfect. Playing PT takes an adjustment in attitude and strategy. There is a distinct learning curve. You cannot expect to jump into PT and be the 27 Yankees unless you have deep pockets or pull a monster card to sell. You will play teams like the 27 Yankees though. It is so much fun to beat them, especially if you knock them out of the playoffs. Good luck with whatever you do.

I see no purpose in shaming this player for not realizing their stacked opponents aren't as strong as they think they are. We can inform them how bad the disparity can and will get without being condescending about it.

I found the two teams you mentioned and they have some great cards.
However, you can probably also find our Washington team near the top in the same league.

I bet before the week is over we will be within a few games of them and we will make it our challenge to stay close and try to keep up.
This is what the other poster tried to explain...find a way to enjoy the Perfect league mode without focusing too much on the cards and the other teams.

They may be shiny and gold in their sports car but I bet we will have as much fun trying to keep up with our Griswold Ford LTD Country Squire.

Read the intro for the Our League and join us there. We can try to make it more fun for you there.

Agree. I think a lot of us sometimes get carried away.
Very good reminder for us to keep it friendly and in the same spirit as the OL league.

and it's all the more satisfying when you're sitting in your Country Squire and you eek out a playoff series victory (doesn't even have to be the finals) over that shiny sports car team

This actually makes sense for new stacked teams with the 50% sale going on.
