A really dumb, insignificant (but it would be REALLY COOL!) 3D request

Could the pitching changes, pinch hitter substitutions, and injuries be animated?

Kind of like they were in Microleague baseball?

https://youtu.be/VHIPZgMKx_A?t=20m15s

I always thought that was cool. You hear the death music, then the players and manager come to the mound, then they yank the pitcher.

players leaving the field after the game is over would be good too. Right now they just stay frozen. The funny thing is for walk off wins the winning team comes out and starts dancing but the losing team just stay there. they should start heading off the field.

It would be sweet if they had people walk in from the bullpen (except Lee Arthur Smith, that would take forever)

HOLY SMOKES! I swear I was just thinking about that the other day!

Seeing Big Lee Smith walking out of that bullpen in right field on a hot July day at Fenway. Mouth open, sweat pouring off of his forehead. Sherm saying: "Now pitching for the Red Sox... number 48... Lee Smith"

You remember opening day in 1988? He comes in to relieve Roger in a 3-3 game against the Tigers. Everybody was amped up, and he promptly gives up a two run homer to Allan Trammel.

(bonus if you can remember who the Sox traded to get him).

Was it John Tudor? I remember the Sox tv broadcasts had a lee smith clock when he came in from the bullpen. Funny stuff

Nope... Al Nipper and Cal Schiraldi. I forget who they got for Tudor.

Essentially, they got Lee Arthur for a bag of baseballs - the same bag of baseballs they got for John Tudor.

To add onto this a bit, if we could (at some point in the future with even better 3D) have the option to run a continuous 3D that doesnt skip or stop, just starts once and shows each and every movement just like watching a game on TV or live, that would be fantastic to have available.

exactly. Not sure if it just takes up a lot of computing resources but the players shouldn't' be frozen so much and then suddenly move when there is a play. even slight constant movements would add immensely to the immersion.

I think it's less about resources and more about this being the first version with this feature. I have to admit, I'm loving it a lot more than I thought I would.

^ This. This is the first year with having actual players, and so yeah, it's pretty basic right now. But I expect that they'll improve it and add more detail to it in future versions.

True. It already has me thinking about how OOTP20 will look.

Was a game (Sammy Sosas High Heat Baseball - 2001 I think) I played a few decades ago that had pretty decent graphics and replay ability. You had to go through the work to edit all the players and ratings and such to get a good sim going, but it was a fun sim. (You could also "play" (push a button to swing and all that) but, I usually just edited and simmed.)

My dad (an uber baseball nerd), got really into it. He edited the entire league, and simmed an early 60s era season. Said the sim was really accurate (took him several seasons of simming/editing/re-simming/re-editing), and was really fun to "watch" his childhood heros again.

He's checked out OOTP a little bit the last few releases and liked it, but didn't love it like he did SSHHB. He has been tooling around with 19, and really enjoying "watching" again. Said he is excited that they added more visual.

I'm hoping they keep improving. Even with graphics they had 20 years ago + this amazing engine would make him (and I) so happy !

(I think this was a "user controlled" game and not a sim (no idea why he made Sosa bunt ! lol) .. but even the audio is decent.

To add to this - animate players warming up in those ballparks (such as AT&T where the Giants play) in which the bullpen is on the field.
