Let ask other players this way, if you have a player with a moderate
injury do you bench him? |

It depends.
As GM for players at any level: + For my key players, I usually bench/DL them for any injury. I want them around long term so better to miss a few games than to make the injury worse and miss a lot of games. I DL most injuries in the minors for any player that I see value in. That may mean they get to the majors in my organization, or I can add them to a deal when trading to up the value for the other team. + For major league Bench players and minor league roster fillers (the 20/20 guys), I play them until the drop. There is always someone around to take their place if they have to go on the DL because the injury gets worse. Malor |

Matt Carpenter... I bench him.
Jonathon Broxton... I pitch him every day until he has a bigger injury so I can 60-day DL him. |

When you guys say you "bench" an injured player, do you set strategy to "bench for x days"? This works, but I worry it hurts the player's morale.
Is there any other way to sit a player down for a few days? Put him in depth chart as "never start"? Just manage each game manually? I suppose these hurt morale equally? |

also depends on where you are in the season.... early on, I might be more inclined to sit them a week or so to avoid a more severe injury.... playoffs, if I think they are still better than their replacement even with a moderate injury, then they are in the lineup....

You're concerned about the attitude changing of the player it shouldn't be much but here's the way you can view it if it's a starting pitcher just kept him one start and go from there maybe by then everything will be taken care of and it's only one starred that he's missing if it's a position player give them a few days off but maybe bring him in as a pinch-hitter late in the game

My ace, who is head and shoulders better than everyone on my staff, just got a "moderate" arm injury for about a month. The team I took over was the worst in the entire league last year but I have been able to acquire a lot of the right players to improve the team quickly and we've started out hot. I'm hesitant to shelve him but if there is a big chance he is gonna end up worse maybe I'll have to.
