Inspired by Pdubya's thread, I am pleased to announce the creation of OOTPwiki.com!

The purpose of OOTPWiki is to serve as a general knowledge base for all things OOTP. The site is fan-operated and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the makers of the game. Our hope is to make the site a one-stop shop for information about the game.

The site is being created to fill a need for greater information about certain aspects of the game. Currently, there is no official documentation for OOTP12 (though I believe some is forthcoming). The forums are a good place to ask questions, but they may or may not get answered. In addition, some questions seem to come up over and over again. By collecting the OOTP community's knowledge in one place, hopefully we can make the game a little bit easier to understand and navigate for all users.

Currently, you must request an account before you can start editing articles. This will cut down on spam. When requesting an account, please use the same user name on the wiki as you use on these forums. This will make things easier for the wiki admins.

It may take a day or two for your request to be approved due to my work schedule.

At this time, there is almost no content on the wiki. Our hope is to define some key areas of priority though discussion with the OOTP community. Once our priorities are clear, we will start creating articles to address them.

The success of a wiki depends on how many people contribute to it. Be bold! If you think a new article is needed on the wiki, create it. If you see a mistake, correct it.

If you have five minutes to spare, you have enough time to contribute to this project.

Thank you in advance to the entire OOTP community. Together, we can make this project a success! And special thanks to Pdubya64 for helping set the wiki up.

Please feel free to use this thread for general planning and discussion regarding the wiki.

This is absolutely great news.

Game wikis are an immensely helpful thing to have for games, especially ones as expansive and detailed as a game like OOTP.

Thank you for starting this and I hope to contribute in any way possible in making this a one stop site for helping people out.

May I recommend that there be more than one person who is admin. Years ago we had an OOTP wiki (to be fair, it was more of an OOTP OT wiki, but the manual was uploaded so people could add to it), but then the guy who ran it disappeared and after awhile so did the wiki and everything in it. If yours takes off and is really useful it'd be a shame if the same thing happened to it.

That is definitely the plan. I think that what will happen is we will wait to see who contributes to the wiki and who is really dedicated to improving it and see to it that those users get some type of admin status with extra privileges.

First off, thanks to Devin (Layton) for spearheading this effort. Might have been my basic idea, but thanks to everyone for the feedback and to Devin for making it happen.

Is there a problem with registering or it is just something with my browser? I keep getting missing confirmation code despite putting in the answer to the math problem.

I'm still getting the "incorrect confirmation code" error even with a bio that's a few sentences long.
