Oh, what to do
I do this every year. I get an itch to start playing out a new league around this time of year. But I want to wait until the release of v12 because I'm always afraid of importing leagues to the new version. When I imported 10 to 11 the ratings seemed pretty screwy. Wondering what your guys thoughts are - do you usually import your "old" leagues to the new versions of OOTP or just start fresh?
I wonder how the financial part of the game will import over with the new features of v12? |

I usually start fresh with the new version using the newest MLB files.
I then have an inaugural draft and play all my games in one pitch mode. Version 11 has been the best for me, I play it everyday unlike the other past versions which I kind of got tired after 6-8 months. But not with OOTP11, find it fun even today! I could probably keep playing version 11 and be quite happy but I am buying 12 to support this great game. To me it's an investment. |

I always wondered what caused that.

My leagues don't tend to last too long anyway. I get some awesome brilliant idea for a league, spend weeks setting it up, play for a few days, come up with an even more awesome brilliant idea, etc. I've been doing this since OOTP2. I once or twice had a league that lasted a few months.
So I don't mind starting a league now, since I'll probably start a new one with v12 anyway. I've noticed, though, that the amount of time I spend actually playing a league is seemingly inversely proportional to the amount of time I spend setting it up.

My problem is, I want to insert myself and my twin brother with brilliant potential, but very little skill in the year 2002 (when we were 18.) But I also want the full history of the game with all the record books, and the players who were on the real teams back in '02. I also want the minor league structure to be accurate. So, I go through, try to set up all the teams and all the leagues of the minor, make sure the logos and unis are exactly as they should be, as well as the stadiums. When all is said and done, there's always something I screwed up. lol. In version 9, I decided to just set up a fictional league, with all the proper minor leagues below it, and started the year in 2001. Played out every single game in pitch-by-pitch mode, and am in my fourth season. The problem with this league: There is no league history prior to 2001. But I just ignore that. I think with 12, Imma try to set up a league EXACTLY the way I always wanted to once and for all. |

Dola,
It would be awesome if Markus included a way to save your league in the middle of setting one up..... |

The very first time I converted, from 2006 to 2007, all my players' injury ratings reversed. The hard-to-hurt guys became fragile and the guys with glass arms turned steely. Since then, I haven't noticed any problems.

I always start over with each new version. I am in the process of creating a league with 256 teams from 32 countries that I hope will import. Thats if I buy v12, I'm waiting for the complete feature list first.

I started my fictional league with v9 and imported to v10 and then to v11. I've seen just a couple guys drop in ratings, but I see that every season with a few guys in their 30's.
