Why should my league switch to V12?
Little Help,
I’m curious to find out why the league I am in should switch to V12? Is it really worth losing a percentage of owners who won’t or can’t afford to upgrade? What are the benefits of forcing everyone to buy V12? Thanks in advance |

I know I'm likely a minority on this but here's my take
If your league is successful, and you're totally happy with your participation of owners then I wouldn't switch to 12. That's probably just me though. Tons of people like switching almost like a new version of Madden. It's just commonplace for them to upgrade their league. For me, if I'm in a league where all owners are involved and or if one leaves we are replacing them quickly... then I don't see the need to change. At some point to ME I want the league I'm in to be about the 20+ owners making it great and not relying on the sim engine to constantly make changes to make it great. Hope that makes sense... |

The main reason you switch is for recruitment. The farther you get away from the release of 12, the harder it will be to find people to fill the inevitable holes in your league. By the time 13 comes out, almost nobody will still be playing v11. There generally aren't a lot of feature related reasons, though the new official OOTP leagues could be a worthwhile reason to switch.
If you have the same 16 guys that never leave, then you can stay on whatever version you want. But I haven't seen many leagues operate that way. Maybe some of the last few v6.5 leagues. Last edited by TribeFanInNC; 01-28-2011 at 04:31 PM. |

Wait until the game is out, patches have been made and engage your league in a dialogue about the merits of changing. Early days yet.

I can tell you I'm in a league that uses 6.5 still. That's what 4 versions behind, 5 counting OOTP12? But the ownership is maintained and the recruiting of new owners when needed comes from the owners. So it works and I don't think they'd ever switch to be honest.
But I agree that if you're gonna switch the day OOTP 12 comes out then the only reason to do that is for recruitment purposes. If you're struggling to fill your 10 or 11 league, imagine how tough it will be when 12 comes out |

I'm newer to the fine details of the OOTP World, is that to say that OOTP 12 is the last of this "series" and the next OOTP will be completely different compared to 10-11-12 whereas 11-12 just advanced slightly on items in previous versions?

I don't think Markus has said anything about what he'll be doing with OOTP13. I imagine he'll be crossing that bridge when he came to it. That being said, I don't see any particular reason why he won't be continuing along with the same engine/interface/etc. Unlike 6.5, it doesn't seem to be broken to the point where a rebuild would be easier than an update.

The biggest thing I see for the league I commish is the improved online security and settings as well as it being a "patch" instead of a league file, that and the reports going SQL will greatly reduce the webspace it takes and the time it takes to upload the sim and run the reports
