Small League America Quick Start

Hello friends.

Small League America is designed to be a Promotion/Relegation league starting in 2010 with financials turned off. There are 2 Major leagues, 1st Small League America and 2nd Small League America. Each league has 1 division of 8 teams. The top 2 teams in each league will also compete for the league's championship in a 7 games series. At the end of each season, the bottom 2 teams in the 1SLA should be moved to the 2SLA and the top 2 teams in the 2SLA should be moved to the 1SLA.

Each of the Major leagues has a Triple A affiliate league. These leagues each have 2 divisions with 4 teams.

I am sending this to Padresfan so that it is available to anyone who would like to use it. Thanks for checking it out!

Using the generic city jersey logos that cephasjames has made available, I have created logos and uniforms for all 32 teams in the universe.

1st Small League America

2nd Small League America

1SLA Triple A

2SLA Triple A

This looks very intriguing. But I am somewhat new to quickstarts (and playing solo) so please bear with my newb questions:

--Is this for v11? (The X mod subforum was moved here).
--Where do I download the file?
--Is it clear how I install the quickstart?
--Must I run a team? Can I run a team?
--Do I determine how fast it sims or is this set in the quickstart?

Thanks for the work in advance.

Answers to your questions in order

-- Yes, this is for 11
-- I will have a link once Padresfan gets it uploaded on his site.
-- You just unzip the file into your quickstart_games directory in your OOTP11 directory
-- You can run in commissioner mode if you choose. You can run a team if you like as well.
-- You sim at your leisure.

The league and everything is already configured for you, ie teams are in place, they have uniforms and logos. They already have players created for the league initially.

You select the quick start, put in your manager info, pick a team and off you go. You don't have to set anything else up if you don't want to.

Aw, not fair! I want to try it now

Thanks for your quick responses. I look forward to this. I am in several online leagues but have never tried solo.

Bumping to publicize this fun quick-start, and some questions.

I have been hired as the GM of the Riverside Rebels in the 2SLA. We are now in the inaugural draft. My goal is to draft a team that is major league ready in hopes of a finish that will promote the squad to the 1SLA.

--I take it there are separate draft pools for each league. Are they of roughly equal quality?

--I went looking for a stud closer and found one listed as CL with a stamina of 20. Is this common in OOTP draft pools? Was this pool generated within the game or custom-made?

--Does the AI draft decently? I've been making my own picks and obviously letting the AI draft the other teams -- should I have the AI do my team as well for more parity?

--Will patches to version 11 break the league file? Should I start over if there's a new patch (just making the same picks of course).

--Do folks ever do dynasty report of other guys' quick-starts? Would the author mind that?

Thanks.

Answers...

-- There are seperate draft pools for each league and they should be close to the same in quality.
-- The pools were game generated.
-- I think the AI drafts fairly well.
-- I don't believe any patches will break it. You should be good to go.
-- If you want to do a dynasty based on this quick start go for it!!

You unzipped the RAR file into your quickstarts folder then started a quickstart game from within the game?

I would try unzipping it again.

still lost

I unzipped it again to the quick starts folder.
I go into the quickstarts folder and click on Small League America and it still grays out.

Please inform me of the correct way to do this.

Thank You

It looks like I am having the same issue now. I'm not sure what happened. I tested it 5 or 6 times before I zipped it and sent it to Padresfan.

I will see if support can help.

I DL'd it from Padresfan last week and had no troubles installing, FWIW.

I just checked it out to see if it works and it worked fine for me. Installed with no problem and works fine.

Are the people having problems sure they're saving the folder in the right place? It goes into the quickstarts folder. The entire folder does. Then you go in-game, to the OOTP menu and click "load a quickstart game" and so long as the entire folder is saved in the quickstarts folder within the OOTP directory, all should be well.
