Post OOTP Help/Manual - Post Issues Here!

This thread is for posting issues related to the OOTP 11 help / online manual. Please feel free to point out things like:
  • In-game screens or dialog boxes that are missing help content
  • Incorrect or unclear content
  • Content that you would like to see added
View the OOTP 11 online manual here

Note: The in-game help and online manual are integrated. By default, the in-game help will automatically connect to the online manual and download any updated content that is greater than seven days old. You can change this by going to OOTP Menu >> OOTP Preferences >> Expert Settings tab, and changing the Online features value. If you set it to "always download," it will make the in-game help open more slowly, but you will ALWAYS get the most current help content. This is particularly useful if you have a persistent Internet connection, and doubly so for the first month or so after release, when I'm likely to be making lots of changes.

I think Creating a Game Using Advanced Mode is missing table of contents.

I was reading through the manual in order and noticed that there wasn't a table of context entry selected for this page: OOTP Baseball Manual - Create Game Page

I believe that is true starting at the page covering Advanced Mode: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/docu..._mode_overview.

A link to it needs to be added to the forum quick links above as well as the "documention home".

Yeah, I asked for it along with some other board enhancements last August and Andreas made it happen soon after. Now no matter what version you're playing you only have to go to one place to find the manual for that version.

It'd still be nice to get links in the quick links above to other useful parts of the site like those linked in my and fantom1979's sigs (I copied him). In particular, updating the support links (they're dead) with links to the new tech support and knowledge base parts of the site would be nice.

On the front office finances page of the manual in the budget information section it says there is supposed to be a line for "Remaining Expenses" but I don't see that in my game.

Also, when I hit F1 to bring up help when I was on the front office finances page I was taken to a page describing boxscores.

It'd be nice if the pages for fielding stats such as this and this actually used pictures from OOTPXI as opposed to OOTPX. It'd also be nice if they had real information about the stats seen on the page, as opposed to just stating the obvious and saying "This page lists the player's fielding statistics for the current year."

Gettin' there! It's remarkably difficult to replace hundreds of screenshots, especially when the game is changing until a few weeks before the game is released!

Incidentally, there is a glossary with explanations of stats. Still need to add the new stats to it, tho.

AI Player Evaluation Options addition

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/docu...ons#ai_options

I have read on the forums that the evaluation options automatically adjust depending what part of the season you are in. For example, at the beginning of the season it lowers / doesn't use current season stats, even if it has a value.

Is this true? If it is could you mention this in the manual?

If not, it may help to suggest in the manual to manually adjust these values depending on how far along your season is.

Thanks

Thanks.

Steve, if this info is true can it be added to the manual?

League Leaders - Pitching - Qualified relievers IP error?

Page: OOTP Baseball Manual - Pitching Leaders

For displaying the qualified relievers option than manual states: Displays only qualified players whose role is "middle reliever" or "closer". To qualify, a pitcher must have at least 1 inning pitched per game that his team has played.

I don't think that is correct. When I used this option it displayed a reliever in the ERA leaders who pitched 2 innings when his team had played 3 games.

It makes sense to me that the IP limit is less than 1 IP per game for relievers because it would be very hard for a reliever to get enough innings to qualify. So I think the manual needs to get updated with whatever the correct IP resriction is (unless there is a bug in the game and the limit should be 1 IP per game for qualified relievers and it just isn't being enforced).

OOTP Baseball Manual - Roster

Are the colors used for player fatigue / injury status consistent across skins? I think the first one is either black or white, depending on the background, correct?

OOTP Baseball Manual - Overall Team Strategy

Is the baserunning team strategy used even when playing out your game manually? For example, if you have it set to aggressive will it make your baserunners try to take the extra base more often? If so, can you add it to the manual? I have read forum posts that this is the case.

Edit: Same question for player strategies.

Edit2: For the team strategies, if you set stolen bases to frequently, does this make everyone steal more frequently (even slow guys)? Is the frequency modified by their ability (so a slow guy may steal more frequently, but it is still very rare)?

OOTP Baseball Manual - Pitching Game Log

I think the below should state one batter faced (or an AB resolved, something like that) instead of an inning pitched. Wouldn't a game log entry exist where a pitcher came in an just walked one batter and was taken out?

From manual:
This page displays statistics for every game in the current season in which the player had at least one inning pitched. This information is provided both for position players and pitchers.

When viewing the help with the 'in game' browser... looking at the page that shows how to play and lists the different offensive and defensive choices when playing a game, the text goes off the right hand side of the window. It still wraps, but some of the words are not readable.

To be more clear on where I was... I was refreshing my memory on the difference between Hit and Run vs Run and Hit.

If you need more info, let me know
