Data Execution Prevention

When I try to play OOTPX, I receive a message that the "DEP" has stopped the game from working to protect my computer.
Is there a DEP-compatabile version or update to handle this situation?
Please help

You can configure an exception for OOTP and DEP. I'd advise against turning it off completely.

I'm curious, what were you doing exactly with OOTP when you got this error? I don't think I've ever gotten it with OOTP.

I click on the OOTP.exe application icon.

I wonder if it has anything to do with UAC...

When you ran it for the first time after installing it did you right-click and select "run as admin"? If not, that might be all you need to do. If it works, you can probably ignore what I said to do in the first post.

I have tried that also.
I am going to uninstall the game and start all over.
Do I need to start from scratch or can I can I start from one of the patch's?

I'd start from scratch. Just make sure you don't delete your saved_games folder. If you download the latest full install, it should include the patch.
