If there's a post that you like, the "thanks" function gives you a way to quickly and easily express your appreciation. To "thank" the poster, click the "Thanks" button in the bottom right-hand corner of the post.

It's new so of course people are being awfully silly with it which negates its helpfulness, but with sites that have had it for awhile I find it can be quite useful to first search only thanked posts because generally a thanked post is more helpful than an unthanked post. Obviously it's not something one would bother trying to police, but if you'd like to make better use of it yourself, you might want to try to only thank posts you feel deserve it.

I'm sure the lists of thanks are going to get on most people's nerves soon if they haven't already so I've suggested that before they get rid of the feature entirely that they consider just removing the lists which shouldn't be that difficult. If they want, they could just add an icon somewhere to the post with a number beside it indicating how many times it has been thanked or they could even keep the lists, but only have them pop down once a javascript button has been pressed.

The thanks box below a post takes up a lot of space. It would be nice if the font sizes for the thanks box was reduced to appear much smaller than the post text.

OK, learned something. "Thanks" is how many times you have thanked posts. "Thanked" is how many times you've been thanked.

Over time, this may replace the slew of '+1', 'agreed' and similar posts as it can express the same sentiment.

If that is the case, the little list of thanks given under certain posts may be easier on the eye than the slew of posts giving short-hand affirmation.

Go to your profile by clicking your name, click on Statistics, click on Find all thanked posts by eriqjaffe. It should be this link in your case:
