How to Swap Players?

I used to let the AI control all my minor league teams and my active and 40-man rosters. But lately, I've been trying to do that more and more.

What is the easiest way to switch a player from the various rosters? Like, is there an easy way to swap players between the 25/active man roster and the 40 man roster?

It seems difficult for me. I have to go through a lot of gyrations. Maybe I'm making it too hard.

I just do it from the transactions screen. I'm not sure there is another way. Well, I suppose there must be another way, your way, but I don't know it.

Kq - you can right click on guys and go through all the transactions options there.

KGrob - The easiest way is going to your team transaction screen where you can see four rosters at once (and change the rosters you do see if you have more). Just click on a guy, hold the mouse down, drag him to the new roster... voila.

Most of my OOTP time seems to be spent on the team transaction screen. I love it.

I thought so, but before I posted I went to test that and I didn't get any 40man menu. Now that I test it with commissioner mode turned off that menu appears. I really dislike how commissioner mode disables stuff. It should just enable stuff, not disable too.

Anyway, KGrob, the transactions screen probably is what you want. You can right-click on it, but you can also just drag 'n drop from there too which is much faster.

How so? I never play with Commish mode off, so I have no idea what you are saying.

Well, most things are minor insignificant things like the above missing menu. The one that really gets me, however, is the overall ratings not being displayed. Well, you don't have to be a commish, you could just be a manager without a team and you can't see them so I guess it's not technically a commish mode issue, but if you're not playing as a GM, you probably want to at least be in commish mode. This is when using scouts, that is.

No scouts for me. I play in Commish mode and unable to be fired. I prefer seeing everything at true value and taking it from there.

Edit - Stupid avatar making me put on some Pink songs...

I'm noob too. In player transaction screen I'm trying to take player 'A' from 25 man roster and switch him with player 'B' on 40 my roster. Every time I try I get the error message that the roster is full. Player A is injured starter pitcher and not I have only four starters on active roster. I have right clicked on player 'B' and highlighted move to active roster and get same error. I don't want to put on DL. HELP! Can't play anymore.

You can't do that. The 40 man roster includes your 25 man roster so you can't swap players that way. Here is what you need to do;

  1. Click and drag player A to the DL. If a player is injured that is your only option. If you don't know how to click and drag, right click choose transactions and place him on the DL
  2. After player A is taken care of, click and drag player B to the active roster. Alternatively you can right click and choose active roster as described above.
Remember the need to put player A on the DL is a Baseball Rule not OOTP. If he is injured for less than a week, keep him on your roster and demote your least used MR or backup position player instead. Then you will have room for player B on the active roster.
