Openings in the Canadian Baseball League

The Canadian Baseball League plans on converting from OOTP 6.5 to OOTP 9 during the off season. Unfortunately, some owners have chosen to stick with OOTP 6.5 and will not be converting with us, leaving us a number of openings.

We are currently in the playoffs - but now is an ideal time to join so you can offer any contract extensions, start trade talks, etc.

Who We Are

The Canadian Baseball League is a fictional league that has been running since 2002 - we are currently entering 2028, our 27th season.

We're a well established league, with a number of original owners still remaining (and even more who have been around since 2003 / 2004). We even have owners who have left for various reasons and came back because they really enjoy the league.

We currently run a sim schedule of 4 sims a week (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday). A full season takes slightly over 2 months to play (including playoffs, off season, etc).

Available Teams

The teams currently open are:

See below.

Who We Want

We're looking for owners who want to have fun. Take care of your team (update lineups, contract extensions, sign free agents, make trades) as needed and get involved in discussion on the message board every so often and you'll fit in perfectly.

Seriously - we've got a great mix of people who make the league fantastic, and ensure things run smoothly.

How to Join

Take a look over our website and get to know the league. If you're interested, send me an e-mail at cjurksch@dal.ca and let me know who you are and what team you're interested in.

This is an amazing league that should be revitalized by the change! Join up, you won't regret it!

Chris is an awesome commish who is still going as strong as ever after all this time.

This is by far the best and most challenging online league I've been in. A great group of active owners keeps the message board hopping. Somedays it is hard to keep up!! The commish is first rate and sims are done and posted like clockwork.

Highly recommended!!

I've been part of this league since the 2015 season. Great league, great commish, great owners. We are going through an exciting change moving from 6.5 to OOTP 9. It is a great time to join.

*waves hand* One of those would be me. I was in the league for a number of seasons, enjoyed it very much, but eventually left. One reason was that I was burnt out on OOTP, but another was that I was too frustrated with the snail's pace evolution of the league by way of rule changes and updating from 6.5. I never totally left the league, however, as I kept an eye on it from afar and interjected the occasional comment. I just adored the league too much to completely walk away. But now the league is finally upgrading to the latest version of the game and Chris (leagues don't always vote the way a commish leans, but in my experience they tend to) seems more interested in going with some rule changes that at least IMO make online leagues better.

That's not to say I don't think Chris is a top-notch commish, he is. I'm just the type of person who, if I'm really into something, constantly likes to try new things to see if they improve things while others seem to prefer the philosophy of, "it ain't broke, don't fix it". For a lot of people I think consistency is much more important anyway and Chris certainly has that. This will be the league's 27th season, going back to April of 2002 in real time, and Chris has been the commish for the entire time! Just think about that for a minute, folks. That's over 6 years in real time that he's run this league and I don't recall even one time that he's mentioned stepping down. And breaks in the league? They're practically non-existent and the odd time that he has gone away he's had people step in who have always done a fine job. Obviously it's got to end some day, but there's no signs of that day coming any day soon especially now that the league is converting to OOTP9.

It's an exciting time in the league's history and it almost seems like a rebirth which is always fun. I truly believe it's a great time to get involved with this league so sign up soon, before all the spots are taken. Heck, send Chris an email even after all the spots are taken and maybe we can convince the league to expand for next season! I'd love to see even more teams.

FYI - Halifax and Medicine Hat are taken. Ottawa and Montreal are still available - see the initial post for details.

Only one team is available - Montreal (see above).

We have converted to OOTP 9 now, and will be starting free agency this week. This is the ideal time to join the league.

See the first post for more information.

Churchill has been taken - but there are two other teams available.

Medicine Hat Monarchs
The former 3-time Canada Cup champions finished 90-72 last season. The team is well built all around. Not a ton of super star players - but a team that as a group plays very well.

Dawson City Mad Dogs
Dawson City used to be one of the strongest teams in the league, however has fallen in recent years, finishing 60-102 this past season. At this point, the team likely needs to be re-built. It has a handful of quality players, such as Daryl Caples, but lacks a ton of depth.

If you're interested in either team, please send me an e-mail to cjurksch@dal.ca.

Thanks!
