Feeder Leagues - stats meaningless?

When feeder leagues were first introduced weren't we told that the stats in the feeder leagues were cosmetic only and not to read into them? Or did I make that up?

I'm interested in hearing this answer as well as I too wanted to set up feeder leagues.

Well, Markus stated that feeder league stats are now shown so that you have some idea or history of the guy. So is that just window dressing? I don't know, but if so that would be moronic.

I tend to think these stats are real. I mean, they play out their games, too.

What needs to happen is that people should go back and look at the HS and COL stats of their long-term superstars, and then make some analysis (and post) about it.

They do have meaning, but at least in mine it seems that batters are a lot better than pitchers, just about every game there is at least 3 batters that have 5 hit days, you rarely see a shutout. You need to be aware of what the league averages are and ajust what you consider good or great off of them.

Stats reflect potential ratings in feeders

In the previous leagues in OOTP8 with feeders on I found that the stats players often produced reflected their potential ratings. I created a feeder that played 162 games and was adjusted to make it neutral, favouring neither hitters or pitchers. Basically, I see the stats produced by the players in a feeder league being the ideal world peak for that player in a league.

Actual ratings play little or no part in feeder leagues in my opinion. In most feeders, especially high school ones, most stats are very low on the 1-250 scale which would make it very hard to generate a range of stats based on it. This is best shown in power stat where the highest I have seen is in the 60 range out of 250, with most players averaging from 10-20. When I see a player hit 40 HRs with a rating of 15, I check his potential and usually see it is 150-200 out of 250.

Ratings mean more than stats with prospects.

It's probably just like the minor leagues, where the stats may not be a good reflection because of the league totals in setup... since the game defaults to the same league totals for every league at any level it should make the feeder league look stupid just like the minors do. I give very little weight to the stats put up in the minors - or rather I weight the generality of it, if a guy is a great hitter in the minors he'll be good in the majors at least - but I get some stupid results in the minor leagues that I dismiss (like a contact 3 of 20 that hit .340 in AAA).
