MLB 2008 Roster with HS/College feeders inside...

This is still a work in progress- but since I am almost a week past my deadline, I wanted to get this out there now. I wanted to work on getting real coaches and mangagers into the game- but that's just details. Just a note on the rosters: These are an edited version of the games included MLB rosters- many players have been tweaked- but not all. Lower levels (Rookie and A ball leagues were populated with fictional players to make things work out; if it's not your bag- then feel free to move on. I just wanted a set that would provide players from real College teams feeding into the MLB with REAL college/HS league stats. I thnk this is a good start. What's in this set more specifically?:

* 112 Team Division I Feeder League with completely correct logos (thanks to Truthserum) and colors. Partially correct uniforms- at least for about 80 of the 112 teams (I believe magic8ball did these...excellent quality). All players (well, almost all) are fictional.

* 48 Team High School Feeder League. Completely generic at the moment- but I have some future plans to spice this up a bit. All players are fictional.

* Both above mentioned feeder leagues have PCM's adjusted (after endless tinkering) to work very well player development wise- at least to my eye. High school players typically develop in 3-6 years- college ball players in 2-4. There are, of course, exceptions. In some sims I have seen a top prospect move up to the majors during September call-ups (only from college, though). I really spent a lot of time trying to get this part right- so play with PCM modifiers at your own risk. There is a 25 round draft- all Feeder league players. The draft's initial year will run a little short of players (20 rounds I believe) as well as talent- but is fine from there.

* All top prospects have been tweaked (in the neighberhood of 100-500 guys, all according to the 2008 version of Baseball Prospectus) - some prospects have been added. Young prospects were developing way too fast (as has been noted). I needed to dovetail the game's prospects into the upcoming draft's talent so that things would operate smoothly.

* Modified league totals and modifiers for all MLB and all MiLB teams to accurately represent real league totals.

The file is ~52 MB. Just Unrar/Unzip and place the folder into your saved games folder and load from inside OOTP9.

Feedback and suggestions/corrections are always welcome!:

How about a Template of it? Also MLB/Minor league Rosters empty with everybody on the Free-Agent Market including the retired people? But good Project.

Thanks a bunch for putting this out there. I plan on using the modifiers for sure, and maybe the rest.

One question...I notice you left BABIP alone at .296, except for .298 at the ML level, and .299 in the Arizona League. I was just wondering why?

Great stuff!

Hmmm- I don't recall changing those- but if I did I can't think of a reason- though I suspect BABIP may go go up slightly at lower levels because range isn't MLB caliber- nor are the infields...but that's all suppostion.

Incidentally, I also neglected to put a "check" on all levels for "recalculate modifiers each year". This SHOULD be checked, as it helps keep statistical output at the original levels (unless you don't want that). I ran a final sim with this off to to see what happened. Offensive totals go up a bit more than I liked after a 20 year sim.

I downloaded this file and extracted it using WinRAR.. However, when I go to load the game file up it says

"DATABASE::load_database - could not load world file"

Then says...

"Error! The loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version."

This file is indeed for OOTP 9 right? If so, any help would be appreciated!

Hmmm, not sure guys. Are you using the latest patch? I made these rosters in their final iteration with the latest patch- so I recommend upgrading if you haven't already. That might be the problem? Otherwise, make sure you are putting the extracted folder with the .lg extension in your saved games folder- and it should work fine.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Are these the league total modifiers or the PCM's?

Just the league totals modifiers, No Pepper- I don't believe there is a need to ever modify the PCM's....You don't have to check "recalcualte totals at year end" either- if you don't mind the league totals slowly skewing to a more offense based game. I just wanted those that want to base evaluation on stats to be able to do so without the standard changing on them over time.

Incidentally, one other thing I forgot to mention at the outset; I modified the injury file to ELIMINATE all CEI's. That is, a player may have a debilitating injury whose subsequent ratings drop forces him into retirement- but you should no longer see a guy getting injured one day- and then retiring the next because of a career ending injury. I always hated that...So I changed it.

Good call, haven't opened up OOTP 9 in a while and didn't realize there was a more updated patch... (should know better with the guys at OOTP!)

I am updating now and that should work, will let u know if for some reason it doesn't work.

Ha ha, found one little mistake (God I hope it is). Jose Vidro (Mariners) has a mutual option for 85 million in 2009.

is there anyway you can make this world structure smaller by just having the mlb, 1 triple a league, 1 double a league, 1 single a league, 1 rookie league, NCAA League, and High School League. Just wondering so people could use it for an online league? I be more interested as the file takes to long to upload and ive tried myself to modify it but I have all these dead leagues and dont know how to remove them. Just a thought...let me know
