OK, Rookie (One set OOTP 4 I think) wants back in. Needs advice

HOLY COW... Markus, you certainly have ramped this up a bit... Kudos to you..
Now, that being said... SHOULD I decide to download this (Yeah right who am I kidding)... How should I start? I cannot imagine Owning and Managing a team right off the bat.... But I want to see results (As an owner, I seem to drive my teams BANRUPT and as a Manager, I would go maybe .540 maybe .560) and keep me interested in this game longterm... I LOVE DETAILS... And managing them....Apparently I do not have a knack for handling LOTS of them...

I saw a few threads to start off as an owner... But then in other threads, I read how owner gets boring quickly... This group was friendly "Back in the day" as my kids say. and seems to have even gotten moreso.... So I value your opinion and suggestions...
And potential settings... Feel free to suggest that..
One of the BEST hints I got back in my first tour was dont bother downloading the MLB pack (There was a guy who did fabulous work) because after 4 to 6 seasons you are dealing with Jim No Name guy because your Loftons and such, retired anyway.. So may as well start out with the unknowns... That helped a LOT.... Didnt get all bummed when so and so retired (Star Name) and I got Jim No Name with KILLA stats...

DAMN, where is my credit card??? (LOL At work so no can do)

Anyway, I look forward to your replies...

Edit.. Reading the manual... CAN YOU SAY OMG?!?!?!?!?

In my opinion, the best thing to do is not to worry about setting up your Perfect League right away. Do a quick setup, maybe something small and play around with it a bit. You'll probably soon wish you had done something different, and the next time you'll know to check that option. After a few tries you'll know better what you want to do and how to do it.

AHA, so once I start a league... I cannot change settings?

So if my boys are doing well, and I got the owner thing going OK, I cannot change the system and become a Manager/Owner?

Thats good to know....

You can actually change most things, but some people (myself included) are anal about changing certain things after the beginning and would rather start over. If you're not like that things will certainly go much easier for you.

Excellent advice. I wish I could follow it myself.

I might also suggest the ABA Quickstart game that comes with OOTP 9. Small, easy to manage, fictional, good for learning. Gets far too little notice and commentary on these boards, IMO.
