Good news. So what did the bug make problematic exactly...it's a bit hard to glean from those links...

I'm very glad to hear this, as it is something that has bothered me for some time.

Awesome for this board that someone decided to post a link to news posted on another forum about a game supported by this forum.

I would have to agree that posting a link to FOFC may be a little out of the norm, it does seem very curious that Markus often seems to be more responsive to questions that they (FOFC) pose and tends to offer insights that are nowhere to be found on this board (such as the one in the link). I am not sure why he has taken that approach, yet I am glad that the "bug" has been located and eliminated.

Now if we can only just get full list of what has been added to this next version !!!

Does seem odd to see the discussion is over in the football forum. Marcus seems to be in there a lot because he responds a lot more to baseball issues in that forum than he does in the baseball forum.

I was after this bug 2 versions ago before I finally gave up on Markus. He never even acknowledged it's existence; now it's all of a sudden "hey I fixed it, give me 25 to 40 more dollars."

Honestly, it irks me that he says it 'now works as advertised'. That means it never has for the last 2 versions (3 if you include 8). Does that mean we're entitled to money back since it never did?

Just another reason I won't buy another version from him. Fool me once.....

Ah sure... the Hardball series had the same recurring bug in each of three versions.... they never did fix it just killed the line. Maybe I should demand a refund from them for the $120 I spent on those 3 versions I bought.

Don't remember who anymore, but I got a game once for $60 that you were supposed to have an entire world to run around in... but had a bug that wouldn't let you leave one freaking town. There was never even a patch for that game at all. I think I'll hunt them down and demand my money back.

Civilization had a bug for two versions, every time I'd learn paratroopers the game would crash. I'm sure you've wasted money on such programs, why hold OOTP to a higher standard than we do the big game businesses? Because they can afford to not give a dime about what you think? Their money buy them a pass?

Just curious. If you have no interest in any future versions, why do you continue to come to the forum? Once the next version comes out, the OOTP 8 forum will get pretty quiet.

Don't get too excited. His solution might create a different problem in the case where there are no previous years' stats. See near the end of my post #100 in that thread.

For those who don't care to read the whole thread (I focused on Ksyrup's posts myself): there was a problem with star players getting demoted after a dip in ratings when zero weight was given to ratings (see post #15). The problem was apparently caused when the formula would then give weight to ratings when it was early in the year and so the player would look worse than his past stats would indicate (post #17). Markus' solution (post #57) is to give that needed weight to previous years' stats instead of the ratings. However, what happens when there are no previous years' stats either?
