Smile Welcome!

Forming an online league can be a bit of a daunting project, but with a little bit of know-how it can be easy and entertaining! This is the place where you can discuss the tasks of running an online league with fellow commissioners.

Also, if you feel the OOTP online league functions can be enhanced in order to be easier to use for the commish, I suggest starting a discussion in this forum as well... we will monitor it closely

Enjoy!
Markus

It would be kind of nice if we could get a sticky post that we can use where all and any online leagues using OOTP can list their league. Someone would have to keep the list updated and all the online community people could help clean up any dead links by informing whoever maintains the post that a league is no longer active.

Maybe the OOTP community could then even hold a poll/vote for the best leagues. (Might be fun and interesting.)

Just a thought.

I'd certainly welcome any system that made it easier to advertise openings for both my own league and others. I'd also throw in that it'd be nice to have a feedback system for how members of the OOTP forums work out as owners. Generally speaking, the more we can coordinate and communicate, the better.

Thanks, Markus. Now I have another place to complain about my Co-Commish in the OBL.

(Just kidding, Bdog. Don't hurt my players.)

Is there a how to or FAQ for on-line leagues?

For example, how do most leagues host their sites?

Regarding hosting, I use community member f.montoya's AllSimBaseball service and have been very please with it. Fidel is extremely responsive to his customers. If you're a total novice with web design like I am, I'd certainly recommend this.

This doesn't directly cover hosting per se, but you may want to take a look at this thread on league web designs if you haven't already. Lots of great ideas in there, and they touch on hosting as well I believe.

What, like the IOLD?

It's pretty automated so no need to really have a constant caretaker. All it really needs are user submissions. I'll check the email address I set up for it though. I haven't in awhile, but there was very rarely a need to after I put in the password reset function.

As for voting or comments, that was one thing I wasn't really interested putting in because I didn't much like the idea of some league possibly getting trashed for something childish and I didn't want to have to deal with moderating that kind of stuff.

It's good to see this commish subforum. Kudos to the person who made it happen. Hopefully it will help online leagues get back to their heyday (or are they already?).
