The Rays' New Logo

I've just seen the new Rays logo, and they say it was designed with input from the MLB. If that's the case why is the second base bag on the background fully within the diamond. I was always under the impression that the second base was centered on the diamond corner.

Perhaps it doesn't say RAYS, maybe it's RAY'S (as in Mr Charles designed it)

So... does the little representation of the sun, combined with the complete absence of any acquatic life forms, mean that the Rays are now the baseball manifestation of radiation from the sun?

The new logo doesn't do anything to stop me thinking of the Rays as a minor league team.

As in, "Let's go catch some Rays." "Cool, dude. I'll bring the lotion."

They recycle broken bats and scuffed balls? Stadium retrofitted with those curly low-watt florescent lights? Restroom waste water being used to sprinkle the field? How come you to this claim of the A's going green, then, hmmm?

The entire uniform set got leaked a month or two ago. The whole identity is incredibly bland.

They're probably desperate to get away from their old identity which was way too colorful and full of crap.

Too colorful? It was dark green and navy blue! Unless you're thinking of those awful gradient-laden things they wore back when they first came into the league.

Unimaginative and yet, hardly surprising. Not a baseball logo, looks like something for a food chain.
