I like March Madness but it needs fixes like

The games should start on Monday after the field is annouced and keep going everyday intill it's over.
Their shouldn't be sites for games but games be played at the team with lowest seed in the matchup's Arena.
Should do the seeding by record in Polls or Standings.

I was waiting for this thread. And I agree with all of that. But what about all the money and gas wasted for your plan?

The only fix March Madness needs is they need to send a memo to the refs to _let the players play_. This tourney has driven me nuts this year with the huge amount of ticky-tack and phantom fouls. That Tennessee/Virgina game was unreal. It was so bad I had to cut it off and pop in Casino Royale, which I had been putting off watching in favor of hoops. There have been several games like that, too. That Nova/UK game and even tonight, UK/Kansas, if anyone got within the same zip code as Randolph Morris it was a foul. Louisville/Texas A&M was whistle after whistle.

Just drives me nuts. Let them play... sheesh.

I think the games should be spread out so each could be watched from start to finish. It was better when ESPN had the tourney and would replay games.

The brackets aren't even drawn up until late Sunday afternoon. Tuesday would be a more viable option, as it would at least allow for a travel day. Still, the Thursday start makes more sense.

I think they have done (or do) something like this with the NCAA Women's tourney and the NIT. IIRC, in the women's tournament, the #1 seed of the sub-regional serves as host for the weekend. I'm not sure if this still is the case, but I've seen it before. I believe the early round NIT games are hosted by the higher-seed.

The problem with this is that the NCAA announces the hosts several years out. I believe the locations already are set through 2010. It's a rather huge deal to host the early rounds leading up to the Final Four. Hosting the Final Four is akin to hosting any major sporting event ... though it seems to be unfavorably biased to the East Coast, where there are domes. However, I think it wouldn't be out the the ordinary for Safeco Field of Chase Field to close the roof of the dome in order to host the Final Four. Unfortunately, no California city stands a chance (no domes).

The women's tournament format wouldn't work as well for the men, because you need to have a larger infrastructure for the more popular men's games.

I think to an extent, this is how it is done. However, there are 64 teams. It's fairly easy to seed the teams already in the Top 25. It becomes more cumbersome as you get to the mid-majors and the small schools. Upsets in the conference tourneys also make things tricky. There are teams in the Top 25 that blow it in the conference tournament, get an early exit, and suffer in the tournament seeding.

The seeding this year seemed to be done well enough. Not a lot of huge upsets Thursday or Friday. A few upsets Saturday and Sunday. For the most part, the brackets seem to be right where I would expect them to be heading into the Sweet 16.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a #1 seed or two fall in the Sweet 16. USC-NC looks like a good game, as does Tenn.-Ohio St. Kansas does look like a sure thing over Southern Ill. Butler probably won't beat Florida, but boy that would break things wide open to win the Midwest.

Seeding wise, the lowest remaining seed is a #7 (UNLV). No Cinderella teams this year.

They've stopped doing that. I think it was last year. They have their 1st/2nd round sites set years in advance now as well. The only difference between the Men's and Women's is that they don't have the "host" rule. UConn is hosting the Hartford sub-regional, but also playing in it.

I would like to see the committee given a little more time. They are charged with presenting a bracket a mere hour or so after the last championship game concludes which can cause screwy scenarios because often the teams involved that day could effect those that are in the field.

They should exclude no one! Take all the Division 1 teams and seed them by the computer rankings! Play regionals in Seattle, LA, Kansas City and Orlando! Do it all in one week so it doesn't mess with CBS primetime!

I think they should hold the subregionals in one of those big gyms with the nets that separate the 4 courts, like at the camps, and play all the games at once. CBS can air them in split screen.

Where would they play it in Orlando?
Florida played Jackson State in round one so the game would have been played on the Gators Home Court.
RPI ranking should solve who makes the field.
All 4 teams that make it to their Conference Final should automatical be in the field.
CBS show all Big Ten/SEC teams games.
ABC show all Big 12 teams games
ESPN Big East,Altantic and the others.
ACC and PAC10 where FSN would carry those teams games.

I have often wondered why the NCAA doesn't find a way to coerce the few conferences that hold their title game on selection day to back everything up by 24 hours. I assume that money somehow is the reason.

How would this happen when CBS paid billions of dollars to show March Madness exclusively on their network. Unless, of course, CBS decided one day to just "hand it over" to ABC/ESPN or FOX. Yeah, that could happen.
