Monday Night Football

First time I have watched in ages

Tony Kornheiser and Joe Theisman are about to have a knife fight on air, are they always at each others throats like this?

It seems like they have been that way a lot during this season. I have to admit that I sort of ignore those two though. Tirico is the only one I can stand listening to in that booth.

Kornheiser always seems to get into arguments. Just look at him on PTI.

i think it stems from Theisman's lack of respect (rightfully?) for guys who havent played. i mean really, what makes Tony worthy of sitting in that booth? his ESPN affiliation is about all i can drum up. he's not a "football guy". he's an on-air personality.

I don't think Tony takes it seriously.... but Theisman..... he definitely could be.

I think it stems from Theismann not going along with jokes and generally being a bad analyst.

The Giants "jump shot" thing after every defensive play may be the most annoying and stupid thing I've ever seen.

You can make an argument that Howard Cosell wasn't a football guy and was only an on-air personality/character, and look at him now, he was one of the most popular broadcasters in history. I'm not saying that Kornheiser will reach what Cosell is now...

Theismann has got to be one of the most annoying announcers I've listened to. The way he harps on one subject incessently throughout the game is aggravating.

Newsflash to Joe :
Nobody gives a crap what you think, no matter how many times you repeat it during a broadcast !!@!!

Especially when you note that, for the jumbo guys, it's more like a "tiptoe shot."

Agreed that the "jump shot" thing is lame. I'm waiting for the day one of those 300+ lb defensive lineman twist their ankle doing that "jump shot".

He's also an arrogant piece of crap, not sure how anyone can stand to be in a little booth with him for 3 hours.

I think I'd rather hear Tony Kornheiser's take on things than Theisman's. Theisman is worthless. Worse than Joe Morgan, if that's possible.

guess i just prefer to hear about the play from a guy who has played, rather than the latest sports gossip from the local smut dealer *shrug*

Theismann is one of the worst analysts in all of sports. For more than 15 years now he's made a career out of wrongly predicting plays and telling viewers "when I spoke to so-and-so yesterday..." 30+ times a broadcast.

The Cards-Bears game was a classic expose of Joey T.'s faults.

He said the Cardinals needed to be aggressive. He liked that. Then, once they had a lead, he criticized aggression and said they needed to run the ball. A few minutes later, they should've kept throwing it. When Kornheiser started to pick up on the fact that Theismann's analysis is generally just B_S_ and pathetically inconsistent, he started to call him on it. "You just said they shouldn't be aggressive, but now you think they should throw the ball."

Joe trying to wriggle around being confronted with his own ineptitude was hilarious. Kornheiser is out of place in the booth, but at least he shines a bright light on how truly gawd-awful Theismann is.

I tend to agree with you on annoucers because you have a lot of knowledge. But I don't think Kornheiser is that far out of place in the booth. He understands the game, but he doesn't pretend to be the know-it-all. He isn't afraid to ask questions about what is going on. In that way he seems to represent the casual fan. I also like the fact that he his pissing Theisman off. Theisman is terrible, I would say he is worse Sport Analysis than Joe Morgan. IF they could put a decent Analysis with him, maybe Phil Simms, then he would be even better. Plus he has his funny moments.
