This may be a bug, but I like it

I playing with one major league and full minors (no unaffiliated teams)

Anyway, a player was drafter and after two years in the minors was traded to another team. This was basicly his carrer arc, as he was traded another 3 times in 3 years. Basicly average player with almost no power never hitting more than 10 home runs in a season (well actually he never hit more than 7 in any season

Anyway in his 5th minor league year he goes on a power spree hitting 14 homers (remember his best before that was 7). He finally makes it to the major leagues the next year. In his first year 22 homers and over .300 BA. Then his next 2 years he lead the majors in HR with 55 and 70 homers (no one had hit 60 before) and also over .300 BA.

I love the way he went from carrer minor leaguer with average skills to Barry Bonds. Now I don't know if a player who doesn't normally hit HR is meant to all of a sudden hit them like a power player, but it was a huge good surprise.

That's a great story. I'm assuming he got some good ratings boosts somewhere in there.

Are you playing in the 90's??

Rafael Palmeiro, Luis Gonzalez, and even Roger Maris himself all started out not being major power hitters, and all went on to put up some good HR numbers in their own rights.

Maybe he got a hold of some roids..

Well in Roger Maris's case it was the one great year that he would never had again (and he probably wished he never had in the first place after the way he was treated).

I'm thinking more of the roids too. Oh by the way the next year he once again led the majors in HRs with 55. Thats sort of what amazing me, its not just a fluke year, he seems like hes going to be a power HR man when it looked like he was just lucky to finally get to the majors.

#1 4 HR's in 1200 AB's is a ping hitter.

#2 I don't sign big dollar FA's. I prefer to let the players that escape my Genocide Pit ( oops, A ball affiliate ) percolate to the majors or trade hitting prospects for established, reasonably priced vets with 2 yrs left on their deals.

#3 Kirby is a god, just like Phil Connors.

Not very familiar with Greek and Roman mythology, are you?

As to the "bug", I hope it's not one, as long as it's a very rare occurrence. I think it's kinda cool. That's what's so great about sims like this. All the cool random things that happen occasionally.

Quite familiar, actually.

I was just making a point. You don't need to bring ancient mythology into this.

A Greek Empire League would be great. I would play my games at Medusa Field. I think I can do a dynasty Roman Empire League and blend it in with history, that would be pretty cool actually....well except for the lions on the field capturing and eating the middle infielders.

Ahhh, now you got my imagination going. It's going to be impossible to resist doing an Ancient History universe now...

Someone needs to create classical Roman name files...

One word: awesome. The single thing I probably missed the most from 6.5 were the occasional screwy ratings changes. Really lent an air of unpredictability to the game. Unrelated, but I have a pitcher who was average to above average in my league, got hurt, and came back absolutely replacement-level awful. It's working both ways!
