I expect that, after so many releases and launches, Markus just takes a deep breath before he posts bad news, because he knows what's coming...submits the post...then just gets to work.

I am of the belief that there is little point to complaining - what is the expected result of doing so? Doesn't change squat, and Markus & Co are not clueless - they know it is not going to make people happy, but what options are there, other than full disclosure?

People who say that they paid their money and have the right to complain are....perhaps, correct, in some way (I guess it's like booing at a sports event)....but to what end? What does complaining accomplish, other than the eventual evolution of multi-page threads that don't make anyone happy?

again, i have not said bugs and issues are not allowed, i am saying dont release a partially completed game when you have exact numbers of how many people are still playing PT 22, and how many pre-orders you have received.
Do you think they waited from the date of the usual release date to the date the beta was dropped twiddling their fingers? Likely, the things they are having to deal with, which caused the launch date to be pushed back, is what they were dealing with all the way up to the beta being launched.

I do work in software development. Stuff like this happens to every company sometimes. If I had to guess as to why the beta didn't start sooner I would say because the software wasn't ready for beta sooner. If I had to guess as to why some of the more obvious bugs were present in the initial beta version, I'd guess that they were well aware of them and had planned fixes already in the works but determined that they weren't showstoppers and proceeding with the beta was beneficial.

Imagine in any of your jobs if you were asked to plan out your next week/month/year of work. Go back after that time period and see how accurate you were. Throw in a major change or two (like switching backend authentication providers). See how accurate your estimates are after that. My guess is they had preplanned work almost all the way to release day. It does not take much to throw software development timelines off.

I think it is possible to be upset and still understanding. We all want to play because we like the game and it is frustrating we can't. But what is far worse is for a company to bend to that pressure and release a product with major issues like CyperPunk 2077 did for example.

I've worked in gaming for a long time now, this is 100% accurate.

Shouldn't everyone be able to express their opinions/feelings without being attacked with things like age or maturity level? Thank you to those who expressed opinions without attacks regardless of which side of the fence you fall on.

Yes, everyone should be free to express their opinion. The problem is when someone, not considering the facts, mindlessly posts doomsday posts without considering the situation.

Yes, they totally should have had perfect team available at launch. However, things pop up. With a program as complex as OOTP, things are bound to happen. And converting it to a whole new backend system makes it worse.

Accept it. Do something else for a week. Move on. But the crap-posting is not necessary.

This x 1,000 People have said what is the point of complaining? To vent. That's it. It's a message board, people are upset. If it's your opinion they've overdone it, that's ok. But I'd venture to guess if I took a video camera and followed you around that you would have an inappropriate outburst at something I wouldn't even be bothered by in the slightest. You could do the same for me.

Let them vent. Let the people who love the game and don't care say they love the game and that they don't care. There isn't any reason for an attack on either side of this.

what kind of closed beta did you actually run if there are so many bugs that you cant release one of the HIGHLY ADVERTISED aspects of your game for an extra week after "launch"?!?!?

the freaking "remember me" button doesnt even work...literally a component of the log in screen doesnt work. that should have been something that YOU tested and fixed way before any of us gave you a dime.

you knew that you had a new back end, which means you should have opened up the public beta a hell of a lot sooner than 48 hours before the full game was supposed to launch.

and dont even get me started on how you havent gotten the game to release on STEAM...you have been advertising this date for over a month...people have given you money, and in some cases, rearranged their lives to play your game, and you have given them a totally broken pile of frustration and waste of time.

i expect bugs in games. i am not saying everything should be perfect on day one or the game is a failure, but how could you have no idea that PT was this broken?

and before all the fan boys on here start saying i am a whining noob that only has 5 posts, just because i dont post on your forum doesnt mean i havent been playing this game since the original version came out 20+ years ago...i am a long time customer, and considering how much marketing and promotion surrounded this release, we deserved a hell of a lot better than what we got!
Well, you certainly have some valid points. As I recall, this game is usually ready in March, not April. So we also missed out on having the game as the baseball season started, even though the actual season itself was delayed.
Maybe go with a better tone though.

Very disappointing to see that perfect team isn't a go this morning, i must admit and based on this fact alone, the game should not have been released today in my humble opinion.

Kind of like correcting people that use "Boomers" to refer to a group of people with diverse opinions on baseball strategy and many other things?

That's good, because I don't know what a misogynist is. Together, we don't know anything.

Absolutely, and while OOTP Dev has grown over the last several years, it is still a relatively small shop with a niche community. Don't be surprised if the long time followers of the game rally around Markus and co after such an extraordinary track record when it comes to negative opinions and carrying on.

We totally even get the frustration and as Markus said, no one is realistically probably more upset and frustrated than we are about the issues that have come with the move to the new backend provider(which was not by our choice). So we really don't blame anyone for being frustrated, we do completely get it.
Yes, it's better than the game being late, and no one cared.

Latest UPDATE from Marcuss Heinsohn!

Sorry guys, now there will be an additional week delay on Perfect Team as we unexpectedly had to take valuable time working on it to change some diapers. Sorry!!!

That's actually not true at all. I've been in this field for over 30 years, and owned my own software company for over 15. There's plenty of test scripts you can create to emulate server traffic based on your code base. This is actually server / game management 101. Companies set a budget, and then decide if they want to over shoot or under shoot that budget.

I like OOTP because I'm a huge baseball fan. If I'm being 100% honest, it's very obvious that there's core issues w/ development. I was hoping once they sold this would improve, and maybe it has slightly, but there's a long list of problems here that are solvable with the right people in place.

Sorry guys, I know you're doing your best, but there's internal solvable issues with the correct people, in the correct positions.

Why?

There's a large part of OOTPers who don't care about Perfect Team at all.

Just because PT isn't ready you don't want to give them the game neither?

Valid point as you expressed too in your earlier post but what you said works both ways. They can vent against OOTP and those long-time diehard OOTPers can defend against the attacks. Fair enough?
