Status update & Perfect Team delay news

We will be launching OOTP 23 tomorrow worldwide, and we first want to say that we truly appreciate all the feedback we have gotten from the community on the beta version so far.

However, the beta has revealed that Perfect Team mode is not as stable as it needs to be at this point.

As you know, we've been forced to move to an entirely new backend provider. And the stress test of the public beta has revealed issues with the infrastructure that are causing serious problems during simulations. Thankfully, with your diligent work during the beta we were able to isolate these issues.

However, we now have a great deal of work to do to fix this, so that we can ensure a smooth experience for all players. Therefore, we have decided to disable Perfect Team in the launch version of OOTP 23 tomorrow. We are working day and night on this and will keep you all informed about our progress.

You can still access the beta of Perfect Team using this week's beta releases of the game (for example build number 23.0.43 from today) if you have pre-ordered the Fastspring version, so if you would like to continue to help us with feedback, we would really appreciate it.

A delay is suboptimal but every other option is far worse.

OOTP is a rare find in the world of modern gaming.

A million other companies would put the short-term profits of their monetized game mode front and center and let their customers deal with the launch headaches. It's unfortunate that PT isn't ready yet, but the practical manner of OOTP is refreshing. I'm proud that this is the only video game I play.

And the franchise mode players still get the game tomorrow. OOTP rocks.

I agree. One of the reasons I keep purchasing the game is because the dev team spends the entire year providing updates to the current version while still working on the next iteration.


No other game that I play does that.

Haha, I am in the same boat. Brutal delay for me as I planned on getting some good time in tomorrow with a light work schedule. Just kind of fits in with the current state of all game development in 2022. Just stinks to not have the game for another delay as I do not play franchise anymore

But, At the end of the day, they are working hard to fix the game, so it is what it is. I Appreciate their effort.

If we have started a simulation season (not online/perfect team, just regular season simulation) on the early release Beta, will it carry over to the regular release, or will we have to start over?

It will carry over, but any roster changes made by the team between builds won’t carry over to existing files.

It is far better to wait until it is stable than to launch when you know you have problems. It sucks for you guys, it sucks for us, but in the long run its better. Thanks for making the right call although I'm sure it was difficult and I'm sure you'll take flak for it. Releasing a broken product is never the right answer but is unfortunately the route most companies take nowadays.

Crap! I happened to have a weekend with no commitments this week. Next week I am going to be out of town and will not be able to log in at all. I for one am hoping for a little more than a week so that I don’t miss the launch of PT.

I am in the same situation. Yesterday someone pointed me to googleRemote - it lets you play on your PC remotely. Seems like their own version of TeamViewer.

That's what I will be using to play from afar!

what kind of closed beta did you actually run if there are so many bugs that you cant release one of the HIGHLY ADVERTISED aspects of your game for an extra week after "launch"?!?!?

the freaking "remember me" button doesnt even work...literally a component of the log in screen doesnt work. that should have been something that YOU tested and fixed way before any of us gave you a dime.

you knew that you had a new back end, which means you should have opened up the public beta a hell of a lot sooner than 48 hours before the full game was supposed to launch.

and dont even get me started on how you havent gotten the game to release on STEAM...you have been advertising this date for over a month...people have given you money, and in some cases, rearranged their lives to play your game, and you have given them a totally broken pile of frustration and waste of time.

i expect bugs in games. i am not saying everything should be perfect on day one or the game is a failure, but how could you have no idea that PT was this broken?

and before all the fan boys on here start saying i am a whining noob that only has 5 posts, just because i dont post on your forum doesnt mean i havent been playing this game since the original version came out 20+ years ago...i am a long time customer, and considering how much marketing and promotion surrounded this release, we deserved a hell of a lot better than what we got!

Has nothing to do with having only 5 posts and everything to do with being a "long time customer". If you have lived through 21 years of playing this game like I have, you'd have a bit more respect for Markus and the team. Crap happens, and how you react to it says more than you expect sometimes.

Totally agree. Unacceptable. Compounded by the fact traffic on PT 22 is way down and it's kind of pointless to play so we just twiddle our thumbs in the mean time. I realize its small in the scheme of things, but they have our money already, unacceptable to not deliver the product on time.
