I will be there. Flitcroft has done an amazing job; even after being forced to sell some highly paid players.

Yes they will, Im afraid. As a late game sub with an amazing ability to cross and a great free kick taker, he can still be a game changing player.

You can't take passengers to a world cup, if a player can't play 90 minutes then he shouldn't be in the squad. I'll be honest imo Beckham is one of the most over rated players there's ever been, but would rather him be dropped than lose out because of injury.

End of the day I don't think any of the right wingers that England have picked in the last few squads are going to set the world on fire and Beckham was just one of those, I'd have given Johnson from City a go and as for people who will say he isn't experienced wasn't there a youngster in 58 also not experienced what became of him ?

And no I don't think Johnson is that good

The bigger issue might be the number of injuries the English are suffering. This is just one less man Capello has at his disposal.

Is Becks really one of the top 4 or 5 wingers in English football? He had a great career, but let's be realistic here. As someone who wants to see the USA move deep into the World Cup, I for one am rooting for Capello to bring in superstars of 2002 to compete in 2010.

He might actually be. Wingers are definitely the weakest position for England, with the possible exception of left back without Cole or Bridge. So one of the two weakest positions. Wait, goalkeeper. One of the three weakest positions. Well, they don't really have a good holding midfielder or another striker after Rooney.

Among the weakest positions for England is winger.

No one expects the English to win the World Cup!

It is too bad that Beckhams celebrity and lifestyle has distracted from his football talent. He is was in his prime one of the greatest players in the world and one of the greatest set piece takers of all time.
And those who say that all he can do is cross, take free kicks and corners is kind of like saying all a basketball player can do it shoot good jump shots.
Yes he has a skill set directed towards one area but he was so good at it and the skills he has are like 70% of what a midfield player should be doing anyways.
Many teams were made better by his set piece ability and in his prime he was also very good in open play.

And Beckham had surgery in Turku Finland
You could have given me 100 guesses and I would have never guessed that as a place to have orthopedic surgery.
Also a little odd considering he lives in LA which even foreign athletes go to to have orthopedic procedures.

Not really, when you consider the surgeon -

Quote:
Sakari Orava is a world renowned sports surgeon based in Turku, Finland. Dr. Orava has been working with football club AC Milan since 1986 and he performed the successful[2] surgery on footballer David Beckham at his clinic in Turku on 15 March 2010 to repair his torn left achilles tendon.[3] Dr. Orava has performed surgery on many other top athletes as well, including Haile Gebreselassie, Merlene Ottey, Didier Deschamps and Josep Guardiola.[4] Spanish runner, Marta Domínguez, referred to Dr. Orava as ”como díos” – like a God.[5]
Dr. Orava has clinics in Turku, Rome and Madrid. Dr. Orava has been dubbed as "Dr. House of sports"[6] and he has performed over 20,000 surgeries throughout his career. Dr. Orava was the head physician for the Finnish Olympic team in four consecutive Summer Olympics between 1988 and 2000. According to Kauppalehti, Dr. Orava's client list includes Real Madrid, Sevilla FC, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC and Juventus.

Not anymore, alot of European footballers aren't going to America for treatment. Beckham went to Finland, Ashley Cole went to France and a few have even gone to Serbia.

I would hardly call this Serbian nonsense a valid form of treatment; at least not here in the USA.

Bring a friend...or four!

Sky is the limit for Genesis

TUE 16 MAR 2010

The Sky Sports cameras will be in attendance at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium as Leigh Genesis continue their charge for the promotion play-offs, and the club are offering a unique offer for season ticket holders to give their friends a piece of the action.

After Saturday's resounding 2-0 home win over Woodley Sports secured a third successive victory for Garry Flitcroft's side, Genesis are just five points off a play-off position as the season nears it's conclusion, and the Sky Sports cameras will be visiting the Leigh Sports Village Stadium as part of a production that focuses on former Premier League players. In Leigh's case, it will focus on manager Flitcroft, who made almost four hundred Premier League appearances for Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers, along with former England Under 21 striker Matt Jansen, who has scored nine goals in twenty eight Leigh appearances this season, alongside his work on the club's coaching staff.

With Genesis taking on struggling Ossett Albion at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium this Saturday (20th March, 3pm kick off), the club's season ticket holders will be able to bring up to four guests to the fixture at half the normal admission price, meaning it will cost just £4 for each extra adult, £2.50 for an extra student or over 65 and just £1 for any additional juniors.

Tickets are on sale now at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium Ticket Office, costing £8 for adults, £5 for students and over 65's and just £2 for under 18's for those who aren't guests of existing season ticket holders.

Rather than spending your Saturday afternoon with Jeff Stelling and his team, witness real football in the flesh and bring your family down to the LSV and enjoy the day at your local club.

Hey, you guys!!! Sloth's back.

BBC Sport - Football - Iain Dowie confirmed as new Hull City manager
Quote:
Iain Dowie has been confirmed as the new manager of struggling Hull City.

The former Crystal Palace, Charlton and QPR boss replaces Phil Brown, who was relieved of his duties on Monday.

Dowie, 45, takes charge of a team second bottom of the Premier League and three points adrift of safety, with only nine games remaining.

In his last management job at Queen's Park Rangers in 2008, the former Northern Ireland international striker was axed after only 15 games in charge.

4-1 against Juve is pretty impressive.

In other news, Owen Hargreaves is still alive.

Dempsey's goal had to be one of the best of the year imo. Hoping to see an Inter Barca Semi too. I think Inter is the only team right now that has the talent and manager capable of beating them at this point.
