I'd be interested in joining this league next week (as long as I don't get sent down). I've just clawed my way to diamond this week. I am hovering a little below 500 so far. I have 12 golds, sometimes 13 which should puts me under cap.

sheesh.... looking at my upcoming schedule.... just finished a 4 game series against first place Guelph Gryphons Gold (managed a 2-2 split... huzzah! Cause I was 5-14 against 'em last season).... next up, the always tenacious Chesapeake Clippers (2nd in the NC West) for 3.... then 3 against the first place San Bruno Crazycrabs (all 6 of those on the road).... then back for home cookin' against the first place Kenner Gators for 4.... talk about a test of your mettle
edit: anyone wanna gift me 500,000 or so points to buy Ol' Hoss from the AH? lol.... no prior sale numbers, but has 1 bid at 400K right now Last edited by stl jason; 02-12-2019 at 10:25 PM. |

Have a look at my May so far. Yeah, 9-13 is awful. BUT... you take away the six stoopit games with the stoopit Clippers and suddenly I'm near the top of the division. ![]() Stoopit Clippers!!!

Nice series we had there. You took 2 of 3 and each game went to extra innings. In fact, all 6 of our games have been close and we're now 3-3 against each other. Who knows, maybe we'll meet again in the post-season. Nah, I doubt I'll get that lucky again. Good luck the rest of the way.

on the plus side, your Gryphons are still only 4 out.....
just managed to take 2 of 3 from the Clippers here.... gonna enjoy the hot streak while it lasts, cause we all know it never lasts 15-9 so far this month with 4 games to go (all against 1st place teams).... hopefully when I wake up tomorrow, I'm not 15-13 for May (morning edit: 17-11... not bad!)(side note: my other team that is pack-only just pulled it's first perfect card (Mike Trout) so hopefully he kicks butt there like he seems to do most everywhere else) Last edited by stl jason; 02-13-2019 at 07:34 AM. |

I don't understand what's going on with my teams. Specifically, the difference between the original Developers roster and the Gold Devs. Like, last year, in the same league, I was more worried that the Gold Devs would be relegated, so partly blew them up halfway through the year and retooled. Now? They're killing it. And they even have PP to spend too, just waiting to save up enough and find the right fit for that roster.
And my developers roster has forgotten how to hit, and also how to pitch. And I can't even make a lot of changes, since they're practically at the cap. They're still at .500, and have to turn it around soon, but definitely dug themselves a nice hole. And the River Devs at least have picked it up a little bit today, since this morning when I logged on I was starting to get worried that they'd be in danger of relegation. Although I've partly stopped caring about them, just gotta wait another couple days to get up to 5k in the bank and go rip 5 more packs. Much easier than trying to scour the auction house. |

I am starting to have nightmares about Toronto teams. It is like watching the Mariners at home when the Blue Jays are in town. 80-90 % of the stadium dressed in Blue Jays colors. I will get a break from you tomorrow and then 8 more games on Thursday. |

few notes from the first couple months....
-looks like the NC West might once again be the dogfight division, with single digits separating first from fifth place (and the River Devs and Dodgers not that far below the .500 mark for another over-500 division) some overachievers based off point total: -Kenner Lynx lead the league with 2.25 wins per point at 27-27 / 12 points -close on their tail, the Evansville Batbirds are at 2.14 wins per point at 30-24 / 14 points -the Waffletown Syrups found their groove in May and sit at 1.88 wins per point (30-25 / 16 points) -and the Kenner Gators round out the teams above 1.8 with their 1.82 wins per point (31-22 / 17 points) which is good enough for first place in the NC West. (might be something in the water in Kenner )

A typical Perfect Team month for me, started off red hot going 8-0 to catapult me right back into WC contention. A couple of great series wins too within May but end up going 7-13 for the rest of the month. I am now 4 games back in the WC hunt.
My Bullpen is currently ranked second worse and with no PP to upgrade, I am hoping for a change in performance over the upcoming months. |

Don't look now... but the Red Gryphs have done a decent job climbing back up that hill that the local bullies (the Chesapeake Clippers) so viciously beat them all the way down. Since getting drummed by the schoolyard goons, the Gryphs have gone 13-7 in their last 20 to come back to within 1-1/2 games of the division lead and 1/2 game back of those same meanies in the WC standings (in the second spot now).
Better yet? We don't have Clippers in the schedule forecast at least until playoffs. Giddy up. PS... Hey Clippers... ttttthhhhppppttttt.... |

![]() I'm not sure why we're still even in the WC lead. We're not doing well at all, but we've gotten some lucky wins (you might know about that?). Our pitching is doing worse than normal (3rd in RA) and after leading the league in AVG for 2 years straight, we're only 6th (oh, that's not so bad like it was last night) and are consequently doing even worse at scoring runs (that's kind of important, right?) and are now 14th in R. Edit: I just noticed I've got the 2 top guys in AVG which has never happened before. So I guess that's why my AVG is picking up and we're no longer 15th in R, but have climbed way up to 14th.

I feel like I simply have to call out my guys. I am a firm believer in them, but even my firmness has its limits.
- Why oh why I thought that Matt Champan will be an improvement in my DH situation? - Why oh why is Ichiro having his worst season in his ten years on my team? Has Father Time finally caught up with him? (just kidding) - Why oh why has Sad Sam Jones forgot his control and movement? He should be really sad. All right, that's about my complaints about my Woodpeckers. Yeah, I almost forgot - the manager has to be a complete wuss, because he's unwilling to make any changes on the team. OK guys, you've been called out, do your best (preferably). |

Hopefully your guys will start doing their best in 3 days right after our upcoming 2 games (Clippers vs your Woodpeckers). And hopefully Sad Sam will remain sad for one more game. I too have multiple players (only hitters, but more than normal) that are performing worse than in past seasons and I keep hoping they'll turn things around and maybe we'll finally get hot.

Sad Sam is an interesting case... seems he is capable of great numbers, but when I face him I always seem to score runs in bunches. Meanwhile, Len Barker........

The Bandits are doing surprisingly well! In the first Wild Card slot, and only 5 GB of the Division, this is a much better year than last year so far. FL Ohtani is proving his worth, and the only new "upgrade" (really more a lateral move for theme purposes) was acquiring Fergie Jenkins as a "two-way" player (really just a mop-up guy and pinch-hitter) - and though he's yet to bat, he's thrown 20 innings with a 1.96 FIP!
Man, does Ohtani mow 'em down...33 K in his last 3 starts. Last edited by BoofBonser26; 02-13-2019 at 08:02 PM. |
