What could it possibly have to do with the Mets?

As far as I'm concerned, "Expos" wasn't a bad name. Naming your team after a recent achievement of the city is better than naming your team after a random animal or insect that may or may not have anything at all to do with your city. Or naming them after an obscure concept like "Wild".

Rejected

I understand that this logo was rejected as being way too flashy:

Indeed, it does!

And the team wonders why no one takes them seriously.

Now you guys have me wondering why I said that.

I was thinking of how the Mets were short for Metropolitans, an urban nickname instead of the usual birds, beasts, and footwear team names. Expos is short for Exposition, another name for a fair or exhibition like a Worlds Fair that is hosted by a city, etc. . .

City-related themes. However, I forgot about the Phillies and Twins which were also references to their home cities rather than the usual stuff back in 1969.

Ok, I didn't know what I was talking about. So sue me. At least I remembered the Expo 67 connection correctly.

I think they should become the AAA affiliate and let the Durham Bulls be the big league club.
