Don't feel too bad, it will still be the best bang for the buck $40 you'll spend on a computer game.

I'm hoping that it means that it's fixed the situation wherein two pinch hitters/runners were used in the same inning and the AI would always choose the wrong one to remain in the field. Example: SS pinch hits for SS and 1B pinch hits for P, but 1B ends up taking the field at SS next inning.

First of want to give kudos to the new patch and iOOTP launch. Good to see the mobile market getting some love.

Apple provides a much better sdk and now you have to develop for just one single hardware profile
So wait, you're an investment banker, a teacher, and a mobile developer?

I hope I-OOTP brings AT&T's network down to the ground in a raging burning infuego crippling the corporation to its knees.

For I-OOTP to be a good program, it needs to go on a network that doesn't charge you for your data use.

Show me a network that does not charge for data and I will and I will convert tomorrow.

Marcus is not the only one that shares concerns over the return policy, several developers won't touch Android.

What I would really like to see if a mobile app that allows us travelers to be able to export for our on-line teams. I for one, cant load OOTP on my work laptop and no way I am carrying two around...so I have to ask family and friends to do my exports. Would much rather have a mobile app that allows me to d/l critical info for my team and export (no game engine for sims needed, only minimal data required as I can always look at on-line HTML).

What do you guys think? Good idea?
How difficult is this to program?

My iPhone is on an unlimited data plan with AT&T.

crap...the update overwrote my modded HOF.xml. anyone know if a backup is made to the xml file that was in place before patching? or am I pretty hosed?

*Edit*
woohoo! can't believe I'm about to say this, but Windows7 just saved my butt. Right clicked on the xml, went to restore previous version...Windows 7 found it in a restore point from 8/9...I'm golden. Let this be a warning to y'all...backup any xml files prior to patching!

Then you probably pay $30 a month for it assuming you are on one of their older unlimited plans that they no longer offer.
My point is that no company I know offers free data. Even if you are on an unlimited talk, text and data plan I guarantee you that the phone company has it broken down my feature and you pay for the data feature even if it is unlimited.

It'd be good, IMHO, to recall this is an announcement thread, probably designed to be of interest to new customers and old alike who may be inclined to not only save a fair share of money, but invest or reinvest in the game, i.e. OOTP Development. It'd be a genuinely grand gesture if we could inspire these buying decisions and in the course of that contribute to the growth of one of our favored choices of entertainment: OOTP. I'd be a bit hesitant, if I were 'shopping' for a new venture and found those associated with it seem more enthusiastic about internal debates than the game itself. Granted, they are related to the subject, but let's separate opinion about the proposal from, hopefully, our love of the game itself and not lose sight of that ambition.

Let's face it, it's an ad. Support it. Debate its application in another thread.

I was referring to AT&T's new "tiered" program
AT&T's New iPhone Data Plans: Pros and Cons - PCWorld

TMobile is hopefully going to come out with the IPhone soon (fingers crossed). They have unlimited for $10 or something like that. Verizon is expected to also introduce a tiered program similar to AT&T.

I think this is a legitimate concern for future I-OOTP users. A lot of data is transferred back and forth between sims and updating league files if it's carried out the same way as the current PC methods.

Moved to mac since last version and enjoying the big screen to see all the stats!!

My only problem is that I started playing around with Linux this summer and am starting to like it...and even to understand it just a little. So my laptop is now a dual-boot Windows XP/Linux Mint KDE setup, and that means I have to decide which license to buy. Can I find enough time over the weekend to give both demos a thorough run-through?

Would anyone out there happen to have advice on whether taking the Linux plunge would make any sense for a person like me? Would speed or reliability differ much between the two? (My laptop is a decent but not spectacular Pentium Dual-Core, with less-wretched-than-average integrated graphics.) Have Windows-only utilities or add-ons been developed that I would miss? Would it be too much hassle, for too little benefit, for a relative Linux newbie?

(If only the dual-license was Windows-Linux instead of Windows-Mac!)
Whether you can find enough time is entirely up to you and your personal schedule, but why you would want to try both demos I'm not sure. The game will still be the same, regardless of OS. If you've played windows versions previously, then you probably want to try the Linux version to see how it runs on your machine.

Smile For those who bought the viva media version

I sent them a email asking how they say they support this game they sell and are now two patches behind
And said that this will be the final patch
And went a hour later and it is there

The Mac installer for the patch is a big steaming pile of crap. It looks like it was designed about 15 years ago and functions about the same.

Do you know if the iOOTP will be compatible with non-iOOTP leagues?

sorry, forgot how this worked. If I've got an earlier patch installed, do I need the update or the full version? And how do I install the update again?
