Ha ha, no. Not Harry Stanek either.
It's really strange getting a list of 8 players that I have lost followed by a list of the very same 8 players that I have gained. I received one player 31 times from 7/29 ~ 9/1.

See Baseball Prospectus' utterly awesome book BASEBALL BETWEEN THE NUMBERS, chapter 3-1. You really should read it, it settles 90% of the arguments we had here over the last five years.

Also highly recommended: THE BOOK, PLAYING THE PERCENTAGES IN BASEBALL. Want to know when to bunt or steal and when not to? Read THE BOOK. Reading it made me a much better OOTP player.

Sign that you are an unrepentant baseball nerd: reading books on baseball managerial strategies to improve how well you play a text-based micromanagement intensive baseball simulation.

Unrepentant former college player, if you please. Plus I read the books to learn more about baseball in general, the situational help was just a very useful bonus.

Besides, how can anyone with Syd Thrift for a handle call anyone else names? I mean really.

I bought both of those at the same time about 5 years ago. Never regretted it!

BANED, eh?

"BANE
noun /bān/
banes, plural

A cause of great distress or annoyance"

Into year 3. League added franchises in San Diego and Montreal. Lost more talent in that draft as well, might be a few years before the league expands again.
Just had something happen for the first time ever, a PITCHER was named player of the week, very cool.
Also, to the knob who said go back and fix the service time I did, took over 2 hours Ten minutes my shorts.
But now all players are up to date.
Interesting, no one has enough time for the rule 5 to be in effect yet, and all franchises, with the exception of the expansion drafts, can hold onto the players for 6 seasons of ML service time.
Arbitration was a bitch though Since I reset the service time partially into a season I had to figure out who had what, with very few educated guesses, but EVERY 2 year player was a super 2

It cracks me up how you guys are basically chattering in the audience, then Curt walks up to the podium, says what he needs to say and then walks off stage.

When I request a scouting report, I just realized if I request more than 1, I only get the first one I ask for back.
IMO to represent a scouting staff it'd be cool to have your 'scouts' be their won group rating, and your head scout be your "Cross Checker", the guy that goes in a signs off on a prospect.
Maybe your scouts have a rating, and your head scout is the personnel guy that can confirm.
Might be more trouble than it's worth, but either way I should be able to compile a list of kids for my scout to see, and maybe get a report back each day on 1, and the next day, and so on, for every one after the first player I ask for a report on.

Is there a setting or something to change the amount of fighting? Thought it was NHLOOTP12 for a second
Seriously, it happens like 1-2 times a week in ALL OF BASEBALL, and feels like it happens daily here.
It would seem to me you could have events for players to be taken out of the lineup, suspended like:
Miss the team bus
Late to BP
Late to game on day he's pitching
Fight with coaches
Fight with teammates
Arrested for speeding, DUI, DWI
Spouse abuse
Teams could, depending on their ownership, suspend players for moral and ethical things they take offense to
Players missing flight
Fighting in a night club...
There's a ton more, pretty much saw every one of these in RL
Oh and player asking out of a game because a certain someone showed up, and was seated next to that players wife for a game, thanks to a dumb traveling secretary giving the girlfriend 'family' tickets

You probably would have liked the scouting system in OOTP 2006 & 2007. You hired 5 or 6 individual scouts, each with different skill sets, and sent them out to do different tasks. Many complained about the micromanagement needed to get them set up for a season. The trouble, IMHO, came because each scout took a different amount of days to complete the same task. It was a bit of a hassle to get these guys schedules for the year setup and still have time for each to scout the draft.
The good though, was when the draft came you could compare different scouts opinion on the same player or you could look at all of the scouts opinions and see if there was a consensus. Maybe 4 liked the kid and only 1 didn't. The other problem was you didn't get any updated reports until he was done scouting a whole league. So if you sent a guy to scout say AA to look for prospects and it would take him 180 days to complete you didn't hear a word until day 180. It would have been great if reports trickled in, as he completed each team, over the 180 days.

I'd like to see this come back IF scheduling became a one or two click affair without having to figure out how many days each task would take. Take scout #1 and assign him MLB\upcoming opponent and the draft. #2 AAA and the draft, #3 scout AA\draft etc. down to your feeder leagues with reports coming in every week and a full report from each on the draft. This would be their assignment for the year and would also leave some time to task them to scout an individual player you were interested in.
