Baseball should implement a rule that a strike be charged to a hitter who call a very late timeout. When pitching trying to alter or stop your motion in a hurry is a good way to injure yourself and it happened on two notable occasions when I played highschool and college ball.

As for 'ANYONE who played baseball', trust me, I did. So if that's your point here, find another. If it wasnt, fine too. I won't argue the point. I think the majority of those asked will side with me on his overall attitude. |

Six games is a pretty low level suspension for a pitcher. One rotation missed at most? Wow, that's going to make a difference to the Red Sox season isn't it?
He only was not thrown out of the game because starting pitchers are deemed more important to a game than any position player. |

Just like Abreu should have dusted himself off and been ready for the next pitch. Just like Torii Hunter and the rest of the Angels should have stayed sitting in the dugout. Just like the rest of the pitchers coming all the way from the bullpen (there should be a suspension for all of the players that left the bullpen).

Leaving the bench or the bullpen when not required to do so should result in loss of their next at-bat (ie, auto-out)

Wrong, at least in ice hockey, they act more than talk. Like I said, it doesn't take much toughness to scream at someone and act like you are going after someone with three guys holding you.

How is Beckett a dickhead? Do you know him? I have watched most of his starts with the Sox and can't see how you could come to that conclusion. He pitches with his quiet fire most of the time and sometimes it comes out. Do you think Grant Balfour is a dickhead too because of the way he handles himself on the mound?

I don't think Beckett should have been thrown out for the "pitch", given the situation you just can't determine whether it was intentional. However, he caused a situation to escalate (twice) and I think the punishment is just. Especially considering it won't even really cause him to miss a start so much as to get one pushed back by a day or two. |

I think they should do it like Ice Hockey. All they'd have to do is get all the players from both teams on the field into a big mob and just hammer the A and B buttons. Whichever team has more of their players come flying out of the scrum on their ass is the loser. It would certainly pay to have more fat guys than the other team.

You know why they don't make that rule, while other sports do? Baseball is the only sport where one side is decidedly out-numbered on the field. If something starts up, the team batting could be outnumbered as badly as 9-on-2.

All the more reason teams should just cut the crybaby chit and play baseball

I agree. Throwing at someone's head for calling a timeout after you've held the ball for 20 seconds, and leaving the mound to get in someone's face after throwing the ball at someone's head, and getting in the opposing manager's face after things have calmed down after you left the mound to get in someone's face after throwing a ball at their head... all that stuff needs to go!
