Runaway offense

I've been doing soem tests with a new elague that i'm trying to create in the deadball era, and even with kg76's system, my offense is just insane. hitters are routinely hitting .400+, HR are in the triple didgts, and team ERA's are up in teh 10's

i'm using the default settings for kg76's system, and have even lowered the amount of rpetty much everything, yet hte problem continues. I know i'm soudning like a major noob, but any help woudl be appriciated

For most of the League Totals, decreasing the number results in an increase in that stat (the exception being BABIP), so try raising the HR total and either lowering the BABIP or raising the Hits total... by a lot.

ahh that would explain it

i'l give rasiing the totalls a lot a go

another thing that is probably related, but it seems that runs usually outnumber hits in many games. I'm assuming its' all aprt and parcel with this issue

ok

I"ve kidan got a handle on it

however, no matter what I try, two things always happen

one: the amount of strikeouts is appaling. I've got pitchers with 300 strikeouts a season on average. For any area that should be too much but for deadball era thats' jsut not right. I've even tried havign strikeouts much lower than BB's (K's at 60000, BB's at 30,000), so doesnt make much of a difference

another thing.....no-one hits triples? i'll have triples at the same or even half of what doubles are and still no-one hits them.....doesnt make sense at all.

and if i try to colculate for era, everything turns to 0's ?

I'm not sure I know exactly what you're talking about, but if it is the spreadsheet I made for OOTP5 (for OOTP6 I think the best advice would be to keep BABIP constant) it's more of just a help to record the numbers and suggestions on numbers to try (which goes by the usual advice of to increase results you want to decrease the settings). Also note that the figures on the "era results" sheet are not numbers you can put into OOTP and get accurate results (they're just the actual real life totals), the "defaults" were just what the game had, the "ideal ratios" were just my own ideal ratios (not settings), and the final settings I had are just those I ended up with for my own particular league and tastes. Because each different league has different player ratings each will require different settings and will require you to go through a process of adjustment.

Well since you are trying to get figures for the deadball era and I've never tried, I don't know how difficult that is. It might be nearly impossible to get extremely accurate deadball era figures. The deadball era definitely had much lower strikeout rates and higher triple rates, but whether those are out of the feasible range of OOTP6 I have no idea. OOTP6 changed how it calculates Ks and 3Bs and the league settings might not even have much influence on their results anymore. Hopefully someone with more experience in recreating the deadball era can help.

Lastly, if you had typed kq instead of kg I might have caught this in a search earlier.
