Roger that
Roger that Anachronism. I suppose everyone thinks that hearing postive feedback that he wants to work on the game (even if he didn't have the time to make it happen at this moment) is worse than him just giving no updates.
I'll buy ITP2 for $20. Heck yeah. If it is one level deeper into the untapped potential of the idea, I would be more than rational enough to realize that it is still a great buy at $20, even though, like ALL previous OOTPD releases it won't be perfect for the "lunatic fringe". |

I have tons of games that I bought for more than $20 that turned out to be crap. For all of them, all that was done after the game was complete was maybe a patch or two. No one would ever expect 99% of the game companies to release entire updates for games they already released. It doesnt happen. Markus has done this in the past with OOTP, but he is definitly the exception to the rule. I dont really expect anything more to happen with this version of the game. maybe ITP2 (if there even will be such an animal).
That said, I AM kind of dissapointed in the game, but I had a good time with the amount of time I did spend with it before getting bored to tears. Last edited by Nukester; 10-27-2004 at 05:58 PM. |

It was mentioned that if Markus wanted to drop ITP he wouldn't have released another patch. This is true. Markus himself mentioned he has ideas for ITP but hasn't had the time. I don't see why people don't understand that. So all I'm going to say is instead of complaining about everything that's wrong with the game, why don't you take that time and use it to make your own game, create your own forum and then have people curse you for the piece of junk you've released. That's my .

Majorly dissapointed in the patch. I really wanted more than three things. Though I can understand Markus' time constraints. I'm more dissapointed that it didn't get made, not that Markus' was slacking. I just really wish OOTPD would hire someone else to help him code or help his workload in a major way. I think ITP has such huge potential, and I would like to see it reach its potential, could be as good as OOTP.

Hmm not sure why my post was removed, and you kept the major flaming posts, but whatever!
I am happy, that after a year, you got a mojor bug fixed, *Reliever* that is, i am saddened that however, you dont feel this game is importent enough to put more time in to it, or like someone suggested, hire MORE help I see this game, IF it has a future, as being bigger than OOTP and like in the last post, what was removed for some strange reason, Markus is there ANY plan to give us a real update?? |

Well... I haven't played ITP in months because of the boredom factor. Am I disappointed with the patch? Yeah, it would have been nice to see more added on to it, but hell... for 20 bucks, you really can't expect all that much. Also keep in mind that this is still a first-gen game.
In addition, from a marketing standpoint, it only makes sense to stick with the cash cow (OOTP). And as others have noted, there's only so much time in a day which means that Markus can only do so much, given those limited resources. So am I disappointed? Yeah, but when you look at the big picture, I think it's fairly obvious that this is only logical and should be expected. Besides, he *did* say he has ideas that he wants to implement for it... so the game's not dead yet. I'd be tempted to go with the ITP2 option myself, if I were him, so I'd be free to *really* expand the game from its present, limited state.

the thing about ITP2 is do you go with the OOTP6 engine, or do you go with the upcoming OOTP7 Engine??

I honestly believe that anybody who has paid the $20 for this game has gotten their money's worth. Markus has been and still is a very busy man. We all know that the OOTP series is the big money-maker. Who wouldn't spend more time working out the quirks on it prior to upgrading ITP? I know I would!! Sorry, fellas, but everybody is in the business of making money. ITP was everything that was advertised. I personally enjoy the game. Yes, I would like to see more in the game as well. However, these things do take time. I think Markus is doing the best that he can with the resources available. I know it's a tough crowd in this forum, and I would be hesitant to do anything too quickly if I were Markus. I would take my time and use the feedback provided by all of you wonderful ITP owners, to build the greatest baseball sim that you could imagine.
You're wasting your time trying to beat up Markus. He will complete the update when it is done. |

You guys are basicly asking for a free sequel...
Most of the bugs are fixed now. Wait until a new version of the game for new features. |

With ootp5 you got 5.14 *or close to that* and with OOTP6 you got 6.10 sofar, yet ITP is only at 1.03, ofcourse we want more, and since i got NO answer to a couple of posts, simply asking what is planned, if they have no plans cool, just tell us!

It's not the quantity of the patches but what they contain is what should be considered.
As for future plans, maybe Markus has plans he doesn't want to reveal yet because of all the negative responses he would get from people wanting more and more (see this thread). If that's the case, I understand if there's no announcements coming yet. |

One thing I noticed that everyone seems to have forgotten, and then wants to complain that things didnt get done to their standards, is that OOTPD joined with SI. Any merger of any form in business takes time, and that time takes away from all projects, there are the meetings, the arrangements and to many other things to list. Give Markus a break, considering all that he has done for his company, working on his games, and trying to give us what we want, I think he has done an outstanding job. This year has been an extremely busy year for him, and merging with a company that is located so far away from him sure didnt make it any easier. With all that has gone on, the patches or updates to any of his games are greatly appreciated by me, Keep up the good work Markus.

For one, ITP is no where near as big as OOTP... it would be a huge mistake to drop support and work on the other two games in order to focus on ITP at this point. I think the BIGGEST problem with ITP is that people seem to not understand the nature of what a "patch" is. Patches are to fix outstanding issues with a game. The problem is that people aren't looking for Markus to 'patch' the game but are looking to him to ADD features to version 1.0 and call it a patch. Markus would well be in his rights to take anything new added to the game and put it in version 2.0. Patches are to fix broken items - not add new features.

People arent upset about a "patch" or "update" or anything else thats been delivered. They are upset about being led on that there would be a big update, even to the point of soliciting suggestions on what to add, then having all those ideas vanish in the wind. If he adds it to 2.0 then say so and stop leading us on to support a product based on our good will and not whats been delivered. See the link to the original post by Markus.. He says "Im going to PATCH it. what are the most glaring issues" Out of the two dozen or so issues brought up, only one was addressed. If thats a case of misjudging his time, well, then let me go. It doesnt make any difference, I will not reinstall it anyway Original post Last edited by LeiterFanatic; 11-02-2004 at 09:01 PM. |

Its been stated already by others...
but... I got FULL enjoyment out of this game, warts and all. Since over the last 20 years (of computer gaming) and many before that of board games, I am happy if I still have a game 6 months after I buy it. Many I give up on (too hard/too complicated/too dumb) or burn out playing them (squad leader/all first person shooters/D&D/SIMcity). I still play APBA (computer & board versions) but have dumped so many baseball games (and other sports) that i've bought. In far to many, the only way to play a different season (or the next season) was to buy a the next version of the game (or some sort of datadisk for almost the price of the game) ITPx will be on my hard drive for a long time. I may not play it as much as OOTP or some newer game, but i know i will go back to it, to play another week or two. (my charater has logged 8 seasons in baseball, but only 30 games in the majors.....many would quit, if he wasnt a primary player in the majors after 5 years!) Well, enough ranting........ Play Ball! I have to disagree that this patch addressed all known bug issues. There is still an issue with pitchers becoming worse as their stats increase. This had been posted in this forum before the patch in at least one of the general discussion threads. My recent example was in trying to make a closer, I got to a point in my career where I had a year as a closer with the Rockies with decent numbers (around 1.00 whip, 2.00 era). During the offseason my control shot up 7 points and all of a sudden I couldn't get an out, was demoted to AAA, where I still couldn't get an out and gave up in frustration.
