Agreed... Furcal SHOULDN'T have been playing.
Can you imaging if you asked for time after being sentanced for DUI? "I'm sorry, judge? I understand the sentance and all, and I'm really sorry, but can I start serving time right after this project that I'm working on at work is over? Thanks a million!" I can guess what the answer would be to that....

Braves played well above their capabilities? Bah! Giles, Drew, and Chipper all batted about half of their season averages and none had a home run. The only two Braves who played at or better than their season numbers were Furcal and Andruw.

Actually, similar instances to this are very common. I know someone who got a 2nd DUI and they allowed him to serve all of his time during weekends so as not to cause him to miss any time from work. |

![]() Actually, I'd want the Mets last, then the Braves, but a tie for last would work for them both also. |

They have been in the playoffs the past 13 years. They put themselves in position to win. But, for some reason, they just can't do it. I shouldn't defend them but they are my team. I am going to defend them. All I can say is that if you don't make the playoffs, there is no way you can win the World Series. They are in the playoffs year after year.

But making the baseball playoffs is different from any other league (NHL, NBA, NFL) because so few teams make it. How many years were they favoured to make the series, and yet died in the first round? I don't know... I hear what you are saying - but at the same time, I think of my Bills who made the SUPER BOWL four years straight, and yet are still considered a joke among NFL fans.... the only thing the Braves have is that one ring to separate them.

Seriously though, will this be the year that the Mets finally put all that cash to good use?

I have no faith in Wilpon to stay clear, and little faith in Minaya to make the right decisions. Sad thing is, a few right moves and I think they could be back to at least respectability in a hurry. I just have no faith those right moves will happen. GH |
