How long will the new Washington baseball team last?
Okay, so the first Washington Senators left back in the 60s, to be immediately replaced by a second. The second one left in the 70s. It seems that Washington just isn't much of a baseball town. Has that changed? I guess we'll see. They certainly have the population base to support a team, but will they?

Barring contraction, I don't see any more teams moving in the next 25 years. And if a team were to move, it would most likely be one of the Florida teams.

I don't think the stadium financing is actually in place yet. My guess is that if the Federal government won't pay for a stadium, they'll be gone to somewhere in Virginia within 10 years. Otherwise, they'll be there a while.

Forgot to put my own opinion.
I'm giving Washington the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the third time's the charm. I'm thinking this incarnation will stick around for a bit.

10 years max. DC doesn't want to pay for a stadium, what with their city decaying around them.
This whole Expos to DC thing is mindboggling.

I might go 15, just because both Florida teams will have to go first. As Kez says, this completely beggars belief.

I still have my doubts about whether they will really go to DC in the first place.

I think it's time to put a club in Japan.

I think the team will do just fine in Washington if they get a stable ownership group. Even if they don't they won't be in as much trouble as teams without the population base.

If they actually move to Washington, I think they'll be there awhile. It's a reasonably big market and they'll have the new team effect for a few years. I think the Florida teams would be far more likely to move in the next 20 years.

They'll probably last until the MLB collapses - within the decade.

I selected other, just because I don't want to add to a possible pygmalion effect. Good luck Washington fans.

Figures that one of the "other"s would be an O Zone Factor fan.

I'm going to ahead and say 30+ because it has the population and the money.

Washington's a bad baseball town? It kept the same team for 60 years. But the Griffiths were the most parsimonious owners on Earth, and the team just couldn't stay competitive.
When you finish way out of the pennant race year after year, attendance will suffer. As for the "fake" Senators, that was hardly a test. This team will last forever. OK, so I'm a Washington native.

I think my reply certainly fits into other - until the league folds.
