Im trying to determine the relevance to the odd free agent behavior, and Im not in some god mode, thats just the way the game works. To make a counter offer you MUST do it from the screen that gives you that info.

jazzrack, this is what happened with me: In FA I made the offer. 2-3 days went by and I got an email from the player saying he had a better offer. At this point my offer was gone from the screen that shows all your bids to FAs. That seems to happen when they get a better offer. I then went to the FA screen and r clicked to make a higher offer. It then displayed the offer he thought was better, so I raised it and kept getting mail from him with the same info, that he had recieved a better offer, but the other offer never changed even tho I kept offering more. I think its just one of many bugs that take this game from near greatness down to average to mediocre. What a shame, this game had me fired up, but too much of this crap, in other areas as well, has left me dissapointed and beginning to get disinterested. Guess I'll have to wait 4-5 more years tii somebody finally gets this kind of game right. ootp should take a few pages from FOFs book on sims. Very bug free and realistic football sim you should check out. Sport sims CAN be great, its just rare. DAMN Im dissapointed.

I'll look when one of my solo leagues hit FA, I have only had 1 FA period in solo play so far so my experience on that is limited. I just may have overlooked it, or there is something different about my machine/game because i have only noticed a couple of small (ok, they are small in my opinion) issues.

I am also well aware that i could be so jaded by past experiences (not OOTP) that my expectations of software are less then others, so having a few bugs just seems like normal software to me now.

expect the moon, you will always be disapointed. expect dirt, you will always be happy

Hmm, it sounds like the number that the player keeps saying is what he wants. But that does not necessarily mean that just because he says he wants for example $3.8M for 3yrs he hasn't received an offer from a CPU team for $4.5M for 3yrs or something. That "wanted" number does not change (at least I've never seen it) even if offers well exceed it. That $4.5M offer will not be shown by the player. You can keep offering say $4M for 3yrs and think that it should satisfy him, but if he has that $4.5M offer he will keep emailing you back saying he has a better offer.

I don't have any clue about the player's name disappearing from the offered list on the right-hand side. Oh wait, he didn't say the name disappeared. I assume the name is still there, just nothing about the offer like a "remove" or "rescind" or "take back" blurb (can't remember what the game says at the moment ). That occurs when the player is not considering your offer because he had one better for him. So it sounds to me like things are functioning properly.

Nah, only my offer was gone. The guy I was going after was a healthy Pedro Martinez, so Its possible, if this is what you mean, that the 8 mil offer he was saying he got wasnt legit. If that was the case I guess he could want even 15-16 mil a year. I just thought 12 mil was as high as I wanted to chance, but that is an interesting idea if thats what you mean. Hey jazzrack, I know what you mean, Its just that they build stuff up so much its hard not to be pissed when it never is as good as they sayit'll be. Im just still kinda new and running into this kind of stuff for the first time with this game.

The $8M listed amount is his initial request as gmo said. However, most likely the computer is offering him well above that and that's why your $12M offer isn't the preferred one.

LOL, I am jaded. I'll will admit it. but after dealing with EA, Microshaft, Sierra, ect...for years. the problems I have with ootp just don't measure up to the problems i have had with the "big boys"
