Harrelson isn't the problem with the White Sox broadcasters. It's Darren Jackson. Rumor has always circulated that they can't stand eachother which therefore leads to the poor chemistry. When the Sox had the Hawk and Tom Paciorek, it was quite enjoyable to listen to them. For those who occasionally catch a Sox game on tv, Harrelson also gets on the Sox as well and shows his disappointment in the team.
As for the Cubs, Chip Carey needs to go. I think they are holding on to the Harry Carey legecy too long with this kid. Yes I'm a Sox fan and do watch both teams. I've enjoyed Harry and Brickhouse to me was ok, but Chip is extremely dull and lacks that personality required to do the game. The absolute best play-by-play guy in the business is Pat Foley for the Blackhawks hands down. If you haven't listened to him, try to get the opportunity. |

I can't stand to watch a game on WGN, its just painful.
I'm not sure what their home run call is, but based on how bad the Milwaukee Brewers television broadcast team is (assuming they still have the same tools from last year) I'm willing to bet that its horrible. But then again since they are very rarely talking about the game they are watching they may not even realize when a home run is hit. |

personally, worst announcer that i've heard is the nets guy. whenever jason kidd scores or gets an assist, rather than just saying jason kidd normally, he says it real fast and real loud which just gets real irritating. the first time i heard it during lineup announcments i think it was a 1 time thing but no, he does it all the time. not sure how kidd hasn't gotten the guy fired, i know i would

Heh. I thought the Jays were the only team with bad announcers.
I can live with whoever happens to be the colour guy (John Cerutti or Tom Candiotti) but the play-by-play guy on Sportsnet (Rob Faulds) is not a baseball announcer.

It may just be my intolerance for everything he says, but the Rockies' Drew Goodman says "Take a good look, you won't see it for long!" in the same inflection every time a Rockie hits a home run and that bothers me immensely.

Yep. White Sox and Pirates take the cake for "suck-osity".
As far as good announcers, I actually like all of the AL West announcers. Tom Grieve (Ben's dad, Texas color commentator) might put one to sleep and Rex Hudler (Anaheim color commentator) calls a baseball game like it's a professional wrestling match, but all in all, a good crop of announcers. |

We've been very lucky in LA. Chick Hern, Bob Miller and Vin Scully have all been terrific.

Cripes... I'm forced to watch the Braves game today on Fox Sports Chicago. As someone mentioned earlier, that "He gone" thing Harrelson does on a strike out is enough to make one vomit.
Ah, crap. Thomas just went deep and I got to listen to their lovely homerun call. Good grief.

Well the worst home run call in the business is John Sterling, who doesn't describe what's actually happening, just what will let him go into his shtick. Excruciatingly bad.
